Fia announced that the tyre contract for the Junior Rally Championship went to the Italians from Pirelli instead of the French tyre supplier Michelin .
This decision comes after the contract obtained by the italians to supply all four-wheel drive cars competing in the WRC from 2008 .The only teams who will have the freedom in choosing the tyres will be only the private teams who driver two-wheel drive cars.
Michelin, under the name of associated company BF Goodrich, will continue to supply the world championship teams, as well as the Junior Rally Championship contenders,but this will be only until the end of this championship.
Michelin tyres have a tradition of 35 years of WRC racing,beeing the most successful tyre company. The first car who won the first rally in Monte Carlo in 1973 was equipped with Michelin tyres.Michelin has a tradition of continous victory for the past 21 months and looks like it will remain unbeaten until the end of the season.
