The old Combo model was sold very well and thanks to its success it continues to be part of the current lineup of Opel ’s commercial vehicles.

The new generation was launched in 2008 and came with a radically changed exterior design that took everyone by surprise.

Continuing to bare the practical genes of its predecessor, the New Combo is available in two wheelbases, two heights, two Gross Vehicle Weights (GVWs) and two trim levels, namely Combo and Sportive.

In commercial vehicle terms, Nissan didn’t manage to get too much attention from the market. Their LCVs had been popular, but it will be too much to say that they’ve put the sales charts on fire. But while in Europe the company has started to receive a better response thanks to its wide lineup of commercial models, in America Nissan still finds it hard to convince it’s buyers about the value of their products.

The Nissan NV Cargo was designed especially for the US market and it’s a highly versatile commercial vehicle available in three versions namely the NV1500, NV2500 HD and NV3500 HD. There are also two height configurations and the vehicle has a storage capacity between 234.1 - 323.1 cubic feet.

The Nissan NV Cargo has a competitive price which starts at $ 25.050 and it’s offered with a choice of two engines including V6 and a V8 units.

The Ford Transit Connect has changed the world of vans forever when it was launched in 2002. It was a bigger alternative for the mini vans and has also managed to steal some buyers form the bigger models from the market.

The Transit Connect was engineered using Ford’s experience in the commercial vehicle segment and it has anything it needs to be considered one of the most capable models in its class. The vehicle is available in two height configurations and you can choose from two diesel engines - 75 hp or 90 hp.

Over the years, the Transit Connect has benefitted from a series of facelifts, but the latest significant upgrade was made in 2002, so the LCV is starting to show its age.

The Iveco Leoncino is a light commercial vehicle with a cab over engine configuration designed especially for the African, Middle Eastern and South American markets. The new model was born from the joint venture between Iveco and its Chinese partner Naveco and will be available with gross vehicle weights (GVW) between 3.5 t and 7 t while the engines options will consists of 116 hp and 140 hp diesel units.

When the truck will launched on the marked it will be also offered with a choice of two types of cabs namely a single cab (1,635 mm wide for the 3.5 t model) and extended cab (1,935 mm wide for the 5 - 7 t versions).

The Renault Kangoo van was launched for the first time in 1998 and was received pretty good by the market thanks to its compact dimensions which made it easy to drive around town and the generous load area which gave it a high level of practicality.

The Renault Kangoo’s main rivals are models like the Citroen Berlingo or Fiat Doblo. But despite the tight competition, the Kangoo has managed to stack up against its competitors pretty good as it is offered with a wide range of engines and it’s also available in passenger version.

The engine options include two petrol units (60bhp 1.2 and 95bhp 1.6) and three 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesels, which develop between 57 and 80bhp. The Renault Kangoo maximum payload ranges from 525 to 625kg and has a starting price of $10.600.

Until recently, Peugeot’s lineup didn’t include any pickup model, but the company decided that it’s time to do some changes and developed the new Hoggar. The Hoggar was designed to deal with small commercial deliveries and has a versatile nature being able to suit with a wide range of applications.

The Hoggar shares the same platform with the 207 and features a load volume of 1,151 liters with a payload of up to 742kg. The vehicle is offered with a choice of two engines namely a 1.4-liter unit and a 1.6 liter model.

For the moment the vehicle is available only for the Brazilian market and it’s produced at Porto Real plant in Rio de Janeiro.

Nissan ’s lineup of commercial vehicles is among the largest you’ll find around, but despite this fact the company didn’t manage to catch too much attention from the buyers. The Nissan NV200 however, was received with better eyes by the market mostly because it has the biggest load area in its class and a good reliability. The vehicle also comes with a spacious and comfortable interior and features a modern and attractive design.

Thanks to its relatively small dimensions, it’s also easy to be driven around town and it has a maximum payload capacity of 771kg. The vehicle has a starting price of $23000 and is powered by a 1.5 dCi diesel which develops a maximum power of 86hp.

The Peugeot Bipper is built together with the Citroen Nemo and Fiat Fiorino and all three models share the same design and technology.

All vehicles are part of a relatively new breed of compact vans which were designed to appeal for those looking for a small and economic commercial vehicle with capable driving abilities. The Bipper is offered with a choice of two diesel engines which develop 68 (Euro 4) and 75hp (Euro 5). The vehicle comes with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 1800 kg and a maximum payload of 660 kg.

The new generation Peugeot Partner is sold together with old one which bears the name Partner Origin. Despite being launched in 2001, the old Partner is still sold pretty well and occupies a niche of its own being slightly smaller than the newer Partner and also significantly cheaper.

The vehicle comes with a 3.0m3 cargo bay and can haul either 600kg or 800kg depending on the model. Power comes from a 75hp 1.6-litre HDi diesel mated on a five-speed manual gearbox. The Peugeot Partner Origin is covered by a three-year/100,000 mile warranty with service intervals set at 12,500 miles.

The Peugeot Partner is build together with the Citroen Berlingo and was designed as a small LCV for short urban deliveries. The Peugeot Partner is fairly capable and also has a pretty flexible character being able to cope with a wide range of commercial applications. The latest generation offers a bigger cargo area than the old model with a capacity of either 3.3m3 or a 3.7m3.

Moreover, the new Partner is also available in two different sizes, with the L2 version being longer than the L1. The vehicle’s payload capacity ranges from 625 kg to 850 kg depending on the model and it’s offered with a choice of two different engines namely a 1.6-litre HDi diesel or a 1.6-litre petrol.
