The T 810 is a cab over engine medium duty truck with a highly versatile character. Thanks to its wide range of versions, the Tatra T810 can be used for various applications and makes duties even in war zones as a military vehicle. Tatra designers combined a ladder frame with rigid portal axles to offer the truck a very high ground clearance which gives it capable off road abilities.

The vehicle is offered with two wheelbase lengths and a three-point superstructure mounting system which is combined with gross vehicle weights of up to 27.5 tonnes. Thanks to its versatile nature and the generous payload capacity, the Tatra T 810 also offers the possibility to be equipped with special superstructures or various bodies.

The LPK model is part of Tata ’s Construck range of trucks so the vehicle was especially built for construction sites and different harsh working conditions.

The LPK isn’t at the same level with the European and Japanese trucks when it comes to build quality and reliability, but it comes with a fairly cheap price tag.

Thanks to its versatile platform, it can be used for a wide range of applications and it’s offered with GVWs (gross vehicle weight) ranging from 16200 kg to 25000 kg. With a wheelbase of 3880 mm and an overall length of 6830 mm, the Tata LPK is a pretty big medium duty truck and it’s usually used for light mining, construction and road work.

Under the cab, the Tata LPK can be equipped with two Cummins engines which develop 183 hp and 235 hp.

At this year’s Indian Auto Expo, Tata has revealed its totally fresh LPT 3723 medium duty truck. The truck was presented together with the new Ultra model and features a host of high end technologies which make it stand out from the crowd. The most striking feature offered by the new LPT 3723 is its five axle configuration which is seen for the first time in an Indian rigid truck.

The truck was developed for different medium duty applications such as cement and steel movement and has a maximum payload of up to 25 tonnes with a GVW (gross vehicle weight) of 37 Tonnes. For the moment, Tata didn’t reveal any price specification for its new LPT 3723, but we can expect to a pretty competitive pricing.

The Tata LPT 2723 is powered by a 5.9 l Cummins 6BT engine and will be launched on the market later this year or at the beginning of 2013.

The Tata LPT was designed to provide solutions to a wide range of urban and regional transportation. The LPT is the bigger brother of the SFC and it has a highly versatile character being available with various wheelbases and engines.

The main advantage of the Tata LPT is its cheap price and the strong workhorse character being also easy to repair and cheap to maintain.

With GVWs (gross vehicle weights) of 5500 kg, 7200 kg, 7500 kg, 8720 kg and 9600 kg and a 3 years warranty, the Tata LPT is a good option if you are searching for a basic and cheap LCV.

The Chinese manufacturers are starting to conquer more and more markets and their vehicles have finally begun to offer satisfactory performances and prove that these guys are fast learners. However, some faults regarding the build quality and reliability still remain, but some sacrifices had to be done to keep the price as cheap as possible.

The new generation of Heavy Duty trucks from JAC is a major improvement over the previous models, but while we appreciated the technical upgrade and the more comfortable cabin, we’ll have to criticize the exterior design. There isn’t anything inherently wrong with it, but it’s almost identical with Scania’s trucks and you won’t need to be an expert to spot the resemblance.

Not many of you heard about JAC, mostly because it’s a Chinese manufacturer which until recently didn’t managed to catch much attention. The company however, has recently made a joint venture with Navistar and started to use Cummins engines for its lineup of trucks.

At the moment, JAC is also in full expansion and plans to conquer new markets. Its lineup of vehicles includes light, medium and heavy duty models and all of them are fairly versatile.

The Heavy duty range of trucks is offered in tractor, mixer, dump and lorry configurations with gross vehicle weights ranging from 13000 kg to 50000 kg.

Tata ’s range of light commercial vehicles was definitely starting to show its age, but the company was fully aware of this fact and decided to take some action. As a result, it presented a new truck named Ultra at this year’s New Delhi Auto Expo.

The new Tata Ultra was designed to replace the existing SFC range and features a modern design and contemporary technologies.

The LCV will be offered with in a wide range of models with GVW (gross vehicle weights) ranging from 5 tonnes to 14 tonnes. The new Ultra represents a big step forward for Tata, as it has anything it needs to compete with success against the best models in LCV the segment.

More and more truck manufactures turn their head towards efficient technologies and recently Volvo decided to design its own 13 liter liquefied natural gas (LNG) engine. The engine will be designed especially for the North American market and according to the press release it will be launched on the market in 2014.

The LNG engine consumes less fuel than the current conventional natural gas powered engines. Moreover, the company is also planning to introduce a clean technology which will run on DME (dimethyl ether) a new fuel that can be produced from natural gas.

Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Trucks North American Sales & Marketing declared: “Despite the near-term infrastructure questions regarding widespread adoption of natural gas as a heavy-duty truck fuel, it is clear this segment will grow over the next several years. We’re already delivering factory-built CNG-powered trucks and as the long-haul fueling infrastructure develops, the advanced technology in our new LNG engine will provide increased range and improved fuel efficiency in a seamlessly integrated Volvo powertrain.”

While there are a lot of vehicles that claim to be the best off-roader, there is only one which truly deserves this distinction.

With GVWs (gross vehicle weights) between 7,5 – 14, 1 tonnes, the Mercedes Benz Unimog is the ultimate off roader and was build from the ground up to never back down regardless of the working conditions.

Built on the strong base of the legendary Unimog, the 3000-5000 series are the biggest Unimogs ever built and are offered with a choice of two cab configuration and two Euro 5 engines which develop 177 hp and 218 hp.

The U20 is the smallest member of the Unimog family. The truck was launched in 2009 and comes with the typical Unimog versatility. The U 20 is highly appreciated for its excellent maneuverability given by the compact dimensions (wheelbase 2.7 m, overall height 2.70 m, overall width 2.15 m) and its handling qualities in difficult terrain. The Mercedes Benz Unimog u20 can serve as a universal tool for a wide range of applications and thanks to its gross vehicle weights of 7.5 to 9.3 t it can carry massive loads on any terrains.
