The Mercedes Vario is one of the most versatile vehicles built by the German manufacturer. The Vario can be used for a wide range of commercial and construction purposes and is available in many variants which include panel van, box body, tipper pickup and even bus. There are also two cab configurations available which include the standard and the crew cab models.

The model was introduced back in 1986 when it was originally named the Transporter 2. The vehicle received the name Vario in 1996 and since then it was continuously improved and upgraded.

The Mercedes Vario has a starting price of $55.550 and is equipped with a 4 cylinder diesel engine which meets the latest Euro 5 emission standards being among the most fuel efficient units in its class.

The CT660 model is the first vocational truck built by Cat for the American market. Caterpillar has already a solid experience in building construction equipment and despite the fact that many people still consider its new model just an International with a new hood and another badge, the CT660 is able to make a compelling case for itself.

Available with a wide range of specifications, it can be configured to match almost any vocational application required as it’s ready to go head to head with the toughest jobs as a dump truck, concrete mixer, waste carrier or all-around heavy hauler.

The truck is priced at $157000 and is offered with a choice of two CAT CT engines based on MaxxForce units which develop between 330 – 475 hp.

The Western Star 4700 vocational model was engineered to meet the highest standards for construction and municipal applications. Western Star was already known for its reliable trucks and the 4700 makes no exception, being hand built with maximum attention to every detail. The truck is available in both SF (set forward axle) and SB (set BACK axle) configurations, and was designed especially for snow plow, dump, mixer, roll-off, crane and sewer vacuum applications.

The Western Star 4700 is offered with a choice of Detroit and Cummins engines with maximum outputs between 260-350 hp. The 4700 is priced around $110.000 and has a maximum gross vehicle weight rating of up to 64,000 pounds.

Mack trucks are seen with pretty good eyes by the truckers, thanks to their capable performances and the solid built quality. One of the toughest models built by the company is the Granit which was designed for medium duty refuse and construction applications.

The Peterbilt 330 features a versatile conventional cab configuration and was designed as a medium duty class 6 vehicle that doesn’t require a commercial driver license to be driven. With a GVWR of 26,000 pound and a wide range of engines and chassis configurations the Peterbilt is ideal for refrigerated van, pickup, delivery, wrecker and utility configurations.

Moreover, the truck is also available with hybrid technology which offers a better fuel economy and lower emissions. The 330 is not the only truck in the company’s lineup which uses Eaton’s Hydraulic Launch Assist as the 320 model is also using the same technology.

Nissan will present its new NV400 chassis cab range in April at the Commercial Vehicle show.

The new Nissan NV400 chassis cab will be available in both mid and long wheelbases with either front or rear wheel drive. The new model shares a lot of features with the Renault Renault Master and it will be offered with a choice of two engine options of 125hp and 150hp and a total of 13 variants to choose from including a single cab and double cab.

The factory-built conversions will initially comprise a dropside and tipper which are built on the production line and will be delivered to the operator ready for action.

The Good To Go range will include a box van, Luton and fridge van, plus a combi and minibus option that will be built by UK converters handpicked by Nissan and sold by dealers to operators as a complete vehicle.

James Douglas, Nissan Motor GB’s corporate sales director said: “The CV Show is a great platform to launch our new NV400 chassis cab and remind operators that Nissan has one of the widest LCV ranges on offer in the UK. With the NV400 semi forward van based chassis cab and the Cabstar truck chassis cab Nissan has two base vehicles that operators can use to build virtually any size or shape of conversion to match their business requirements. We believe this will help further grow our LCV sales in 2012.”

Nissan’s factory built and Good to Go approach guarantees that operators receive a quality and fully approved conversion complete with a manufacturer warranty, and takes away the hassles sometimes connected with buying a chassis cab from a manufacturer and then having it converted by an external supplier.
