Multicar is a small German company that is specialized in multifunctional equipments. Multicar’s lineup consists of three models namely the Fumo, M27 and Tremo.
The Multicar Fumo is a compact and versatile utilitarian vehicle. The Fumo features three attachment points that permits it fast conversions for over 100 possible implements. Thanks to its flexible and versatile character, the Fumo can be converted for various applications with just a few manual operations.
The vehicle is available in both Single and Crew cab configurations and is powered by a 145 turbo diesel engine which is compliant with the latest Euro 5 emission norms. You can also choose between short and long wheelbases or between 4 x 2 and 4 x 4 drive configurations.
The Fumo features a classical cab over engine configuration which helps it to deal well with tight working conditions. It measures only 2.20 m in height with a 1.62 m wide, while the turning circle is rated at 5.5 meters.
The front is dominated by a massive curved windscreen which offers a great road visibility. Under the massive windscreen, there are four circular lights which offer proper visibility during night missions.
The truck sits pretty low to the ground and its features wide opening doors which are combined with convenient foot steps to offer easy access inside. The side doors are fitted with wide glass areas which further enhance the outside visibility.
The tipper version of the Multicar Fumo has a total towing capacity of up to 7.5 t and a load capacity of 2.7 t with a braked trailer load of up to 3.5 t.
There are also hydraulic connections which provide powerful drives for implements, ranging from the 1-circuit to the 3-circuit universal hydraulics for 200 bar to the high pressure comfort hydraulics for up to 300 bar.

Access inside is made fairly easy. The interior is a perfect match for the rugged exterior design and we like that Multicar’s engineers have managed to maximize the use of space. The ergonomically designed space-frame can transport up to five persons (in Crew Cab guise) and even if the cabin is pretty tight, none of the occupants will complain about space.
As it was expected the dashboard has a highly rudimentary design, but the plastics and fittings cope great with the tough nature of the vehicle and the cabin seems durable.
We also like that everything it’s placed within easy reach and the controls and instrument cluster are laid out in an intuitive way. The cabin it’s also fitted with an air con unit which is pretty impressive given the work horse character of the vehicle.
We also like the ergonomic steering wheel which feels great to hold and permits you to maneuver the vehicle pretty easy. Keeping up with today’s trends, the gear knob is mounted directly into the dash and we’re happy to notice that its emplacement doesn’t limit the driver’s knee room.
The seats aren’t the most comfortable models you’ll find around, but they’ll do their job just fine and there also offered a few useful adjustments which will help you find a proper driving position.
You seat pretty high, which is translated into a great straight road visibility. The low extension of the windows further enhances the angle view and the big lateral mirrors keep you well informed of what it’s going on behind you.
Engines and performance
The small truck is powered by an Iveco common rail turbo diesel engine which delivers a maximum output of 145 hp at 3500 rpm with a peak torque of 320 Nm achieved at 3500 rpm. The engine is both strong and efficient and complies with the Euro 5 emission standards.
The engine can deal effortless with big payloads and thanks to its low end torque you won’t have any problems with uphill sections either.
The engine is mated on a 5 forward gears and 1 reverse gear transmission. There is also an all-wheel drive model available which includes crawling gear with 10 forward and 2 reverse gears configuration.

Ride and handling
The Multicar Fumo features Independent suspension with helical springs at the front and leaf springs at the rear. This suspension was designed especially for utilitarian purposes so don’t expect to any sort of charming ride, as you’ll feel most of the road bumps directly in your spine.
On the other hand, the vehicle is pretty agile and thanks to its 5.5 meter turning radius you’ll be able to deal effortless even with the tightest working conditions.
The steering is also precise and offers a proper feel of the road. Moreover, the Fumo has a climbing capacity on open terrain with 4 x 4 all-wheel drive of up to 32 degrees which is pretty impressive.
You can rely with confidence on the Fumo’s versatile nature. It offers a strong build quality and it’s also reliable to the core. Its flexible character is welcomed and the cabin is also pretty practical offering an adequate working environment with a great road visibility and good ergonomy.
You won’t have any complains about the Iveco engine either and the handling abilities are also part of the first class permitting you to maneuver the vehicle pretty easy.
