One of the biggest surprises on the German public roads this week was an Alpina version of the 2014 6-Series GranCoupe. As you can see, the model is wearing camouflage only in the parts rumored to be updated, because as usual, Alpina is preparing the biggest updates under the hood.

As you can see from these spy shots, Alpina will use a 650i version->ke320 for its project. While in the standard version the 4.4-liter V-8 engine delivers a total of 450 horsepower, Alpina is rumored to add at least an extra 100 horsepower. We expect this extra power to significantly improve the car's current 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds.

Next to the engine upgrades, Alpina will also offer a few styling changes, an updated interior and.a new set of wheels, of course.

Expect the new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe by Alpina to be unveiled in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Just like with all the other Alpina kits, the new 6 Series GranCoupe will receive a new front spoiler that ensures effective airflow to the cooling system and the brake air ducts.

For the rear, there will also be a new spoiler and a new exhaust system with quad exhaust pipes. Alpina will also offer a new set of wheels, likely sized 20 inches.

Competition

2014 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG

While a standard 6 Series GranCoupe takes aim at the CLS-Class, the extra 100 horsepower that the Alpina version makes allows it to turn its sights to the most powerful version in the lineup: the CLS 63 AMG.

The AMG model is powered by a 5.5-liter V-8 biturbo engine that delivers a total of 525 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. In fact, if the rumors are true, the new Alpina 6 Series can easily stand side by side with the mighty AMG -- even with the AMG Performance Package installed, which increases the power to 557 horsepower.

2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo

The same thing can be easily applied to the Panamera; while a standard 6 Series GranCoupe aims to the lower trim levels, with the new Alpina package it has no problem taking on the Panamera Turbo. The Turbo variant is powered by a 4.8-liter V-8 turbo engine that delivers a total of 520 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
