As we reported some time ago, Porsche celebrated having made it past the 10 million mark for Facebook likes by sending one lucky fan on a road trip in a 918 Spyder.->ke3629 Porsche already announced the details of the trip a few weeks ago, but now there is a video highlight reel to accompany the story, and that's always important when it involves track time in a 918. The winner was a young Austrian man named Ingo Vandenberghe, who thankfully speaks English quite well, and is therefore able to narrate the video.->ke278

The trip covered 1000 kilometers (621 miles) in the UK over 4 days. They started off in London, along with a couple of other Porsche hybrids,->ke147 presumably to carry the film crew. The trip ended at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone.->ke1009 This gave Ingo a chance to really open up the throttle on the 918, but more importantly, it gave him a chance to ride along while a professional driver showed him the full capabilities of the car. It seems to have made quite an impression on him.

Why it matters

In the spirit of the trip, which was made to celebrate the popularity of the Porsche brand, the car was covered in a material which allowed those they met along the way to sign the car. It's an oddly analog way to celebrate digital popularity, and taking an Austrian on a U.K. road trip was an interesting choice for a German company as well. But it's an amazing car, and one we're always perfectly happy to see taking a road trip.
