Now here's something you don't see every day. A full carbon-fiber, widebody BMW M Coupe race car->ke148 for sale on eBay. Built from a 2007 Z4 M Coupe by Fall-Line Motorsports, the track-ready vehicle replicates the official motor racing kit offered by BMW back in the day when the first-generation Z4->ke289 was still in production.

The factory racing package was priced at $300,000 in 2006, aimed at customer teams, and was eligible for the events like the Nurburgring->ke999 24-Hour race or the German Endurance Championship. With minor tweaks, it could even been entered into the American Le Mans Series.

The vehicle in question might be a replica, but don't let that intimidate you, because it was developed by a team that has plenty of experience with the U.S. racing->ke447 scene. In fact, the race-spec M Coupe has seen a great deal of track action before being serviced and listed for sale.

Of course, it can't be used in any contemporary racing series, but it can provide loads of weekend fun on any of the tracks across the United States.

Exterior

Although race cars aren't built to win beauty contests, this widebody M Coupe is as pretty as it gets. Track-prepped Z4->ke289 cars were always lookers, and this one is no exception, especially with that full carbon-fiber widebody bolted onto the chassis.

Other eye-catching details include a wide front lip spoiler, a huge rear wing, crested rear panels and a pair of aerodynamic canards flanking the rear spoiler. The builder opted to keep the race car's carbon-fiber skin out in the open, but a red stripe adorns the body front to rear for a more dramatic look. You can never go wrong with red over black.

Interior

The road-going, first-generation Z4 had a well-appointed interior, but this specific vehicle is not a about bells and whistles. Basically, it's main role is to act as a racing command center for the car and provide the driver with the latest, track-approved safety features.

Thus, the things you will be looking at are a chromoly six-point roll cage with NASCAR bars, the Cobra Imola racing seats with six-point harnesses, the Safecraft fire extinquisher system and the sports steering wheel. Additionally, the coupe comes with a heel-and-toe extension for the aluminum pedals.

Drivetrain and Suspension

The race car has retained the factory 3.2-liter inline-six offered on the first-generation Z4 Coupe, but the folks over at Fall-Line Motorsports ditched numerous stock parts to replace them with proper racing gear. Upgrades include Supersprint headers, a BMW M3 CSL-sourced airbox, Dinan throttle bodies and camshafts, as well as custom-built pulleys and a Quaife slip differential.

Alterations don't stop under the hood, as the vehicle was also fitted with high-performance shocks, Mono rear control arms and bearings, H&R sway bars and 355mm Brembo brakes. Moreover, the M Coupe is offered with HRE wheels wrapped in brand new Yokohama slicks.

Fall-Line declined to reveal performance figures, but these updates mean the engine output is more than the 343 horsepower and 296 pound-feet of torque it got from the factory. Our bet is on anything between 400 and 450 horses. At 2,600 pounds, this carbon coupe wouldn't need more to deliver impressive performance.

Price

This race car has a "Buy It Now" price of $135,900, while the bidding sits at $75,000 with a "Reserve not met" notification at the time of this writing. The seller, likely the same guy who commissioned and raced this M Coupe, claims he spent $250,000 on modifications and the bone stock car. Judging by that sum, the $135,900 sticker looks like a bargain. The vehicle is located in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

BMW Z4M Coupe

Sold between 2006 and 2008, the BMW Z4 M Coupe was powered by the same 3.2-liter inline-six engine found in the E46 M3. The unit delivered 343 horsepower at 7,900 rpm and 269 pound-feet of torque at 4,900 rpm via a six-speed manual transmission.

Only 4,275 Coupes were produced in three years, 1,815 of which were sold in the United States.
