The biggest international auto show of the 2011 calendar year is getting closer and closer to opening its doors when the event kicks off on March 1st, 2011. Unlike recently concluded auto shows we've had since the calendar turned to 2011, the Geneva Motor Show is always the one that gets our juices flowing. Not that those other events weren't any good, but Geneva brings out all the goods. All the big boys come out to play at this event, so much so that making this preview took more days than we expected because everyday, a new model was being announced as attending the event.

Now that the Geneva Motor Show is less than two weeks away, we feel like it's time to give you a sneak peek on what cars to expect at the event. A lot of brands that routinely skip other auto shows will all be in attendance at the Geneva Motor Show, proving that without a shadow of a doubt, this Swiss spectacle is one of the most important - if not the most important - events in the automotive calendar.

Hit the jump to check out just who will be in attendance when the show opens its doors on March 1st, 2011.

Abarth

Abarth Scorp-Ion Concept

If you’re looking for an auto show that’s replete with out-of-this world concept cars, the Geneva Motor Show is the place to be. Italian automaker, Abarth->ke2904, is one of the brands that’s scheduled to bring their own concept to the event and for this year, the company is bringing the Scorp-Ion Concept. Designed by students from IED Milano with the help and supervision of Luca Borgogno, senior designer at Pininfarina, and Luigi Giampaolo, a designer for Maserati, the Abarth Scorp-Ion Concept is an electric vehicle powered by four electric motors (one per wheel) that are powered by a lithium-ion battery located in a central position.

Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo Giullietta

The Italian automaker is gearing up for an eventful Geneva Motor Show as it prepares to unveil a couple of their next generation vehicles and a concept two-seater sports car that we know very little about. For starters, Alfa Romeo->ke1386 will have the Giulietta in attendance in Geneva, including two distinct models – a 235-horsepower Quadrifoglio Verde 1750 TBi Rosso Competizione dressed in “Competition Red” and a Distinctive 1.4 MultiAir Turbopetrol 170 horsepower “Alfa TCT” “Anthracite Grey”.

Alfa Romeo MiTo

The next Geneva-bound Alfa Romeo is the 2011MY MiTo, which will carry the award-winning “Quadrifoglio Verde” 1.4 MultiAir Turbo that produces 170 horsepower. On top of the engine specs, the 2011 MiTo will also carry some aesthetic upgrades of its own, including new Sabelt sporty seats with carbon fiber backrests and plenty more carbon fiber goodies on its interior.

Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Concept

Rumored to be in the furnace yet never seen out in public yet, the Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Concept looks to be based on the same platform as the KTM X-BOW->ke2333 and will likewise come with a four-cylinder TBi 1750 gas engine that will produce an output of around 265 horsepower. Details behind this car have yet to be announced so we’re all looking forward to seeing it unveiled at Geneva when the festivities begin on March 1.

Audi

Audi A7 by ABT Sportsline

Given that the Geneva Motor Show is one of the most important dates on the automotive calendar, tuning firms like ABT Sportsline will be looking to show off their latest aerodynamic and performance upgrade offerings, including one that has been done on the Audi A7. While aesthetic upgrades were done on the car, the clear highlights of the package are the performance modifications done on the car, including one for the 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine that offers two kits developing 282 and 310 horsepower, respectively, and for the 3.0 V6 TSI variant that carries a kit delivering up to 410 horsepower.

Audi A8 L Security

Audi->ke14’s line of bullet-proof luxury sedans will get a shot in the arm with the introduction of the new A8 L Security. Armed with enough bullet-proof technology to make other high-security luxury rides weep with envy, the new A8 L Security has been designed to be a car that’s pretty much indestructible. Add that to the fact that the extended wheel base A8 comes with a 6.3-liter W12 engine that produces 500 horsepower and 625 lb/ft of torque and you’ve got a ride that you can literally fall asleep in – even under the threat of bullets flying.

Audi A3 Concept

Another auto show, another Audi concept. Why are we not surprised? The latest Audi concept that will be featured at the Geneva Motor Show is the A3 Sedan Concept. From the looks of it, the concept will be carrying a similar design language as that of the Quattro Concept. Likewise, the expected powertrain that will be found under the A3 Concept's hood will be a five-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces a staggering 408 horsepower. Quite a load, if you ask us.

BMW

BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Concept

We knew that BMW->ke178 had something up its sleeve when they released a teaser of their Vision ConnectedDrive Concept a few weeks ago, but nothing could prepare us for the recent photos BMW released of their Geneva-bound concept. In what is their most cutting edge concept since the ground-breaking VisionEfficient Dynamics Concept from the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Vision ConnectedDrive’s design is far more than what our imaginations could have processed. Details regarding this unbelievable concept will be revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so if you’re like us and want to know more about the Vision ConnectedDrive concept, you might want to keep tabs leading on Geneva.

Fiat

Fiat Freemont

Fiat->ke30’s ever-growing line-up of models is set to introduce a new member of its family in the form of the Freemont SUV. Based on the Dodge Journey and set to be sold for its European clientele, the Freemont is one of the very first models to come out of the recently forged alliance between the Italian auto conglomerate and Chrysler->ke21. The car is powered by a number of engine options, including a choice between two 2.0-liter MultiJet turbo diesel engines that produce 140 and 170 horsepower, respectively. Somewhere down the road, we can also expect a 3.6-liter V6 variant that nets 276 horsepower. Following its Geneva introduction, the Fiat Freemont is expected to head to dealerships later on in the year.

Ferrari

Ferrari FF

The latest stallion to come out of Maranello will be making its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the ‘FF’ and touted as the successor to the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti->ke396, the four-seater Ferrari->ke252 supercar is powered by a 6,262 cc direct injection V12 engine that delivers an impressive 660 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 503 lbs/ft at 6,000 rpm. The FF is capable of running a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds and will hit a top speed of 208 mph.

Novitec Rosso Race 606 Carbon Ferrari California

Even tuning firms can apparently have their Geneva cake and eat it too. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Novitec Rosso will be bringing their latest tuned up Ferrari California->ke3183, the Race 606. Decked with new aerodynamic parts that feature a number of items in matte clear-coated carbon-fiber, the Race 606 California is as awesome-looking as it is powerful, thanks in large part to a performance upgrade that increases the supercar’s output from 460 horsepower to 606 horsepower. It has a 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph.

Gumpert

Gumpert Tornante by Touring Superleggera

The Gumpert Apollo->ke1056 is going to have a new brother and it’s making its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Designed by Touring Superleggera, the Gumpert Tornante should be a name that we’re going to remember for quite some time – if it does end up being produced. And even if it doesn’t, the car’s expected powertrain of a 4.2-liter V8 biturbo engine that produces 700 horsepower should make it on our list of most desirable supercars of the future. Let’s just all hope and pray that it does see the light of production day soon.

Hyundai

Hyundai i40

Hyundai->ke201 will be having a low-key involvement at the Geneva Motor Show with only a few cars set to be displayed, including the debut of the brand's new i40 station wagon. As the first version of the company's new brand slogan "New Thinking. New Possibilities.", the i40 will come with a number of powertrains, including a 1.6-liter GDI engine with 140 horsepower, 1.7-liter diesel engine that emits 113g/km of CO2, and a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 177 horsepower.

Infiniti

Infiniti Etherea Concept

This is what Toru Saito, Infiniti->ke36’s Corporate Vice President and Leader of the Global Infiniti Business Unit, had to say about the company’s new Etherea Concept: "ETHEREA is about a new type of luxury for younger buyers. It is not just a smaller version of a typically conservative and traditional luxury car."

If we take his word for it, then we’re in for quite a treat when the Infiniti Etherea makes its world debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Details behind the car are still unavailable, which pretty much makes the anticipation all that more exciting. Whatever the case may be, the concept is headed for Geneva so the wait shouldn’t be that long.

Jaguar

Jaguar XKR

The spy shot-laden Jaguar XKR is headed to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and it just might come with a slightly different name as an ode to the 50th anniversary of the brand’s iconic E-Type. Yep, if rumors surrounding this car have any legs, then prepare to be introduced to the Jaguar XKE. Speaking of rumors, there are some rumblings that the XKE is going to be powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with an output of somewhere around 530 horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque.

Jaguar XF-R S-C Exclusive Package

The British automaker is also bringing a special edition XF-R->ke1236 to Geneva, called the S-C Exclusive Package. Details about the car are still limited at this point, but nonetheless we expect a few aesthetic updates on the car, as well as the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine sitting under its hood. We could be wrong, but in the event that we’re not, you can pretty much come to terms with the fact that the 510 ponies it has will remain the same.

Bertone B99 Concept

Jaguar->ke39’s concept previews continues with another concept vehicle that features a collaboration with noted coachbuilder Bertone. Dubbed the B99, the concept car has a ton of ‘concept’ features attached to it, including the suicide doors on the rear and the notable absence of a B-pillar, which, if you think about it, doesn’t really translate to passing any roof strength tests. Having said that, the car is still a ‘concept’ by every definition of the word, so don’t expect the production version – if there ever is one – to look exactly like this B99 concept.

Lamborghini

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

The most widely anticipated vehicle to grace the Geneva Motor Show floor will be the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The Murcielago successor has been a long time coming and soon we will be able to quench that ever-growing curiosity about Lamborghini's next big thing. Powering this bad boy will be a new 6.5-liter V12 engine with an AWD layout producing 700 horsepower and 479 lb/ft of torque. The 0-60mph sprint will be made in a speedy 2.5 seconds, while its speed tops out at 217mph. Another new component of the Aventador is the “Lamborghini ISR” (Independent Shifting Rod). This seven-speed single clutch automated manual gearbox combines quick shift time with manual shifting, which proves to be quite useful when a car has a low weight and compact dimensions.

The time has almost come.

Lancia

Lancia Ypsilon

Make no mistake about it: Lancia->ke45 is prepared to enter the premium sub-compact segment with a car that it expects to hold its own against the market’s heavy-hitters. For the first time in eight years, Lancia is preparing to introduce an all-new Ypsilon at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. In a debut that certainly was a long time in the making, the new Ypsilon will come with a number of engine options, including a 1.2-liter gas engine with 69 horsepower; a 0.9-liter turbocharged two-cylinder engine with 85 horsepower; a 1.3-liter MultiJet II turbo diesel engine that delivers 95 horsepower; and a 1.2-liter dual-fuel gas-LPG engine with 69 horsepower. Best of all, the Ypsilon is a premium sub-compact that’s ready to take on the MINI Coopers and Audi A1s of the world.

Lancia Flavia

If rebadging were a sin, then Lancia is guilty of it by all accounts with the new Flavia. Essentially a nipped, tucked, and tweaked version of the Chrysler 200, the Lancia Flavia is just that: a European version of the 200. Can’t say that we’re surprised and we certainly won’t be if the Flavia comes with the same 2.4-liter I-4 World Gas Engine mated to either a four- or six-speed automatic transaxle, or the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that delivers 283 horsepower and 260 lb/ft of torque that the US 200 comes with.

Land Rover

Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate Edition

Now that it looks like the current generation Range Rover->ke469 is on its last legs, the people from Land Rover->ke46 are prepared to give the luxury SUV a proper swan song with the release of the 500-off Autobiography Ultimate Edition. As the most luxurious Range Rover iteration to be released, the Autobiography Ultimate Edition will come with a number of wood, leather, and aluminum trims on the SUV’s interior, among other things. On top of that, the SUV will be powered with a number of engine options, including a 4.4-liter turbodiesel V8 engine with 313 horsepower and a US option that will carry a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine with 510 horsepower and 461 lb/ft of torque.

Range Rover_e

Of the three SUVs Land Rover is bringing to the Geneva Motor Show, the Range_e prototype is the one that figures to receive acclaim from environmentalists the world over. The hybrid prototype is powered by a 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel engine that has been combined with an electric motor and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The hybrid SUV has an electric range of 20 miles, a top speed of around 120 mph, and a combined range of 690 miles. On top of all that, the Range_e is also Land Rover’s initial offering of a 4WD model that’s capable of achieving 89g of CO2.

Range Rover Evoque

The 2011 Geneva Motor Show will not be the Range Rover Evoque’s first auto show rodeo, but nevertheless, it still figures to attract its fair share of attention in Geneva. As the smallest, lightest, and most fuel-efficient Range Rover line to come out of Land Rover, the Evoque is powered by 2.0-liter Si4 turbocharged engine that combines direct fuel injection and twin variable valve timing. The SUV also comes with a choice of either a 4WD and a 2WD version, as well as a number of trims that include Pure, Prestige, and Dynamic. Best of all, the Evoque is a living testament of the brand’s newfound commitment to environmental sustainability with an emissions level of 130g/km CO2.

Lotus

Lotus Elise Club Racer

For the third year in a row, Lotus->ke49 is introducing a new Elise Club Racer. This time around, the official debut will be held at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Defining ‘lightness’ in every sense of the word, the new Elise Club Racer is 52 pounds lighter than a standard Lotus Elise, thanks in large part to the company removing the noise insulation and putting in a motorsport-derived lightweight battery in its place. Further details on the car will be revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show so be sure to have your antennas up and ready to transmit when Lotus unveils their newest iteration of the Elise Club Racer.

Lotus Evora by Mansory

True to their nature, well-regarded tuning company, Mansory, is keeping their cars close to their chests with their 2011 Geneva Motor Show offering; a tuned-up version of the Lotus Evora. Specs have been kept under wraps, but Mansory was generous enough to provide photos of the car, which, if you look at it, has been injected with an overdose of carbon fiber. Not that we’re complaining. In any case, the car, and all the subsequent details behind it, will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.

Maserati

Maserati GranCabrio Convertible Sport

To say that Maserati->ke51 holds equal footing within the auto industry with its sister brand, Ferrari, is not a fair assessment. For one, the latter is considered as one of the most popular brands on the planet and therefore casts an enormous shadow on its contemporaries. Having said that, Maserati's new GranCabrio Convertible Sport is looking to bridge the gap between the two sister brands. Powered by the brand’s all-alloy 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 450 horsepower and 376 lb/ft of torque and mated to a ZF six-speed automatic transmission, the GranCabrio Convertible Sport is one supercar that's armed and ready to make some noise at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Mazda

Mazda Minagi Concept

Mazda->ke53’s continued development of their new ‘Kodo’ design language will be premiered in another prime offering for the Geneva Motor Show, the Minagi Concept. Specs behind this concept are still being kept under wraps, but we do know that the aggressive and sporty design of the Minagi will eventually become the inspiration for the brand’s future CX-5 models. According to Mazda, the Minagi crossover SUV concept will also feature Mazda’s new SkyActiv technologies, which “represent the harmony between driving pleasure and outstanding environmental and safety performance with emotional Kodo design that communicates pent-up energy bursting with vitality as the vehicle nimbly navigates a sprawling urban cityscape.” Interesting words, to say the least.

Mercedes

Mercedes CLS-Class "Brabus Rocket"

Back in 2006, the original Brabus Rocket set the world record as the fastest four-door sedan in the world. Now that the record has been surpassed, the folks over at Brabus->ke368 are coming out with the new Rocket, which they hope will reclaim its spot in the record books. Details on the new Rocket are still limited, but we definitely expect it to be another one for the books.

Brabus SLS

Brabus has released images of another one of their vehicles, the Brabus SLS. Not much was shown of the Brabus SLS - they're saving it for Geneva - except that similar to the Brabus Rocket, the SLS comes with a matte gray exterior finish. Other elements of the car include the prevalent use of carbon fiber on the air intakes, front bumper, and side skirts. There also appears to be a huge set of wheels – we’re guessing they're somewhere around 20” – with a unique multi-spoke design.

MINI

MINI Cooper SD

An auto show just wouldn’t be complete without MINI->ke57 in attendance, and the 2011 Geneva Motor Show figures to be no different. In this event, the BMW-owned automaker will be presenting a new package for the MINI Cooper – the Cooper SD – that is expected to be the most powerful diesel Cooper in ever. According to MINI, the Cooper SD will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that delivers an impressive 143 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 225 lb/ft available between 1,750 and 2,700 rpm. As a point of comparison, MINI’s other diesel offerings only net the following ponies: 112 horsepower for the Cooper D and 114 horsepower for the Cooper One D.

MINI Cooper "John Cooper Works" Package

Joining the Cooper SD in Geneva will be another new iteration of the iconic MINI Cooper, which will carry the John Cooper Works package. Exclusively designed as an aesthetic upgrade, the John Cooper Works will come with exterior and interior offerings that includes a black border decorating the lower part of the car’s body and added horizontal slats on the inner section of the surrounds, a honeycomb pattern to the radiator grille to match that of the lower air intake, and a powerfully formed rear apron with new 17-inch weight-optimized light-alloy wheels in John Cooper Works Cross Spoke CHALLENGE design lighting up the sides of the car. As for the interior, the John Cooper Works package will come with new John Cooper Works door entry strips, the John Cooper Works sports leather steering wheel with red contrast stitching, a John Cooper Works gearshift lever with red shift pattern lettering, and a leather gaiter with red contrast stitching.

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi Concept Global Small

Taking a slightly different and low-key approach as compared to its competitors, Mitsubishi->ke58's participation at the Geneva Motor Show will only feature a few models with the most important arguably being the Concept Global Small. Powered by a choice of either a 1.0 or 1.2 liter compact engine with both being equipped with a regenerative braking system and start-stop mechanism, the Concept Global Small isn't expected to light up the crowds at Geneva, but nonetheless will be there to show that despite being under-the-radar for quite some time now, Mitsubishi is still around, arms and legs kicking healthily.

Nissan

Nissan Esflow

Electric concept cars have become quite a popular subject for automakers these days. At the Geneva Motor Show, Japanese brand Nissan->ke62 will be presenting their very own electric concept, the Esflow. Breaking from the brand’s current design language, the Esflow comes with futuristic styling cues while using – of all things – glaciers as its inspiration. The new Esflow concept will be powered by two electric motors that are charged by laminated lithium-ion batteries. Each of these motors are designated to their own rear wheel, giving the Esflow a 0 to 60mph time of around 5 seconds with an autonomy of 240kms (150 miles) on one charge.

Nissan Micra DIG S

Nissan’s little environmental small car, the Micra DIG S, is lining up for what promises to be an eco-friendly debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The car will be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder Direct Injection Gasoline-Supercharger engine that delivers a total of 98 HP and 142Nm of torque, while emitting only 95g/km for the manual version and 115 g/km for the CVT version. When mated to a manual transmission, the Micra DIG S is capable of hitting a top speed of 112 mph.

Porsche

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

The Porsche Panamera’s popularity hasn’t gone unnoticed in Stuttgart. As it turns out, it’s become so popular that Porsche->ke1 is coming out with a hybrid version of the Panamera, called the Panamera S. Taking its engine and technological cues from the Cayenne S Hybrid, the Panamera will come with a 3.0 liter V6 compressor engine that produces 333 horsepower and combined with an electric motor that bumps up the output to 380 horsepower. Thank to the car’s hybrid system, the Panamera S will deliver a fuel economy of 39.79 mpg.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo by TechArt

TechArt has a tuning itch for Porsche that apparently can never be scratched. That explains why the German aftermarket company has tuned up just about every Porsche model it can get its hands on, including the Porsche Cayenne Turbo->ke212 that they will be debuting at the Geneva Motor Show. This particular Cayenne will carry TechArt's new TA 058/T1 power kit, which will see the crossover's output bump up to 560 horsepower and 780 Nm of torque with a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 178 mph.

Porsche Cayenne Titan-EVO-XL 600 by speedART

We've seen this one before from speedART, but the tuning firm did make some changes to their new Titan-EVO-XL 600 package for the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. So much so, that it is worthy of having its own unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Apart from the wide-body tuning kit, the speedART's package on the Cayenne Turbo also includes an engine upgrade that bumps up the output from 500 horsepower all the way to just north of 600 horsepower and 627 lb/ft of torque.

Renault

Renault R-Space Concept

Renault->ke72 will be bringing two concept cars to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show: the R-Space and the CAPTUR. As for the former, no details have been announced behind it and our only evidence that it actually exists comes courtesy of a spy video of what appears to be a compact MPV that is most likely going to be built on a Megane platform. In terms of design, the R-Space comes with a large windshield that complements the front end that looks a lot like the CAPTUR Concept.

Renault CAPTUR Concept

Speaking of the CAPTUR Concept, Renault’s other Geneva-bound machine is a mid-engined, gullwing electric crossover that takes its design language from the Dezir concept, pushing to light Renault’s new and aggressive design philosophy. As for the CAPTUR’s powertrain, it is expected to come with an Energy dCi 160 Twin Turbo 1598cc engine that produces 160 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque mated to an Efficient Dual Clutch transmission.

Renault Megane Monaco GP

In addition to the two concepts Renault is showing at the Geneva Motor Show, the French automaker is also scheduled to introduce their new Monaco GP packages for the Megane Coupe and Megane RS models. Dressed in a pearlescent white paint finish developed exclusively for these models, the Megane Monaco GP models will also include Etoilé black body components on the side mirrors, rear diffuser, and fog-lamp surrounds while also featuring black headlight masks and "Monaco GP" badge work on the sides. The interior also gets a pearlescent white cabin, Monaco GP" stitching on the seats, a numbered plate and "Monaco GP" protective mats.

Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Phantom 102EX Concept

Luxury electric cars. Yep, you better start getting used to it. One of the world's most esteemed brands, Rolls-Royce->ke74, is scheduled to introduce their new prototype vehicle, the Phantom 102EX Concept. As an all-electric luxury Phantom, the 102EX will serve as a test vehicle for the brand to gather as much relevant data as possible with the hopes of determining its production and business feasibility. Specs for the Phantom 102EX have yet to be released so we're going to keep tabs on the car at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show on March 1st, 2011 to get the whole scoop on the all-electric Phantom.

Saab

Saab 9-5 SportWagon

Saab->ke75’s participation at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show will include three cars and one still-to-be-identified concept. For the Swedish brand that’s looking to regain its footing within the industry, Geneva is becoming a more and more important event for these folks to see just how far they’ve come back from their recent and well-documented struggles. The first car that has been announced for the Geneva Motor Show is the Saab 9-5 SportWagon. Powered by an engine line-up that includes a base 1.6-liter engine that can produce up to 180 horsepower going all the way up to 2.8-liter turbo V6 engine that puts out approximately 300 horsepower, the 9-5 SportWagon makes no frills about its overall package, opting to promote itself as a wagon that features substance over style.

In addition to the 9-5 Sportwagon, Saab's Geneva line-up will also include the 9-3 Independence Day Edition, and a concept car that none of us know anything about. Stay tuned for what promises to be a very eventful auto show for the Swedish boys.

Smart

Brabus Smart ForTwo Ultimate

Joining the Brabus Rocket and the Brabus SLS among the works that are going to be displayed by the German tuning firm will be the Brabus Smart ForTwo Ultimate. Details behind the overall package are still being withheld, but Brabus was kind enough to release a photo of the Ultimate Smart ForTwo in all its glory. Looking at the photo, you’ll notice that the car comes in the same matte gray body finish as the two other vehicles, along with some carbon fiber details and a set of Brabus machined-alloy wheels on the car. On top of that, we’ve been informed that the Ultimate Smart ForTwo will also come with a modified engine.

Subaru

Subaru RWD Concept

So you thought that Toyota was the only one having fun with their FT-86, huh? Turns out, Subaru->ke86 will be bringing their own RWD Concept to Geneva where the company is expected to feature the car's horizontally-opposed Boxer engine, and in the process, show buyers just how Subaru proposes to integrate this expertise into a rear-wheel drive car to offer a new and highly enjoyable, Subaru-like driving experience. The RWD Concept, or Subaru's FT-86 depending on what you think, is looking to show its mug in Geneva at the same time its counterpart in Toyota will do the same.

Suzuki

Suzuki Swift S-Concept

Japanese automaker, Suzuki->ke87, will not have as extensive an event as its competitors, opting only to release a modest concept car to serve as the concept version of the next-generation Swift->ke1838, together with some pre-existing models that will be making their European debuts. Details behind the Swift S-Concept have yet to be revealed, although we do know that Suzuki is positioning the car as a sportier and more aggressive model than its predecessors. We’ll be sure to get a better look at the Swift S-Concept when it is officially unveiled in Geneva. On top of the Swift S-Concept, the Japanese automaker will also be showing the Splash, Alto, Kizashi, Jimmy, Grand Vitara, and SX4.

Toyota

Toyota Yaris HSD Concept

Toyota->ke88’s hybrid family continues to evolve with every passing auto show. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Japanese automaker will be bringing a couple of new concept hybrids, including the long-rumored Yaris HSD Concept. According to Toyota, the Yaris HSD Concept will be bringing Toyota’s full hybrid technology to the forefront while showing the brand’s continued commitment towards an eco-friendly automotive future.

Toyota iQ EV Prototype

Speaking about prototypes, the iQ->ke2879 electric car is another Toyota concept that’s scheduled for some face time at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The prototype is expected to feature a newly designed flat lithium-ion battery pack and is good for up to 65 miles on a single charge. Unlike its other concepts, the iQ prototype is scheduled to have testing on European roads this year, with a potential introduction to that market somewhere around 2012 with a US release scheduled soon thereafter as a Scion-badged model.

Toyota FT-86 II

This may come as a disappoint to a lot of people, but the highly-anticipated FT-86 sports coupe will have its production debut pushed back in favor of another – yep, another – concept car to be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show. Designated as the ‘FT-86 II’, the new concept is expected to have improvements from its predecessor while also carrying some notable items that were found on the first concept. Specific details behind the FT-86 II are still not available so we’re going to work on the assumption that it will still carry a 2.0 Liter horizontally opposed, naturally aspirated four cylinder gasoline burning engine supplied by Subaru. Speaking of Subaru, the company is also expected to debut their own version of the FT-86 at Geneva Motor Show.

Volkswagen

2011 Volkswagen Tiguan

The Volkswagen Tiguan SUV has only been around for three-and-something years and yet it’s already received a facelift version in time for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The German SUV, which is expected to make its debut in Geneva, will likely carry the same powertrain as its predecessor, which means that we can expect it to have a 1.4-liter TSI engine with Blue Motion Technology that produces an output of 122 horsepower while also having a more powerful gas variant that produces around 150-170 horsepower. Lastly, the 2011 Tiguan will most likely come with a TDI engine that nets somewhere around 110-140 horsepower.

Volkswagen Italdesign Giugiaro Concept

Italdesign Giugiaro, the supercar coachbuilder out of Italy, is getting ready to introduce two new concepts at the Geneva Motor Show. No word yet exactly what kind of car this is going to be, but the company has nevertheless released a teaser image in order to rouse up some interest in the concept before it makes its debut in Geneva. Since we're inside a week before the Geneva Motor Show, we won't have to wait too long to see what Italdesign Giugiaro has cooking in the furnace.

Wiesmann

Wiesmann Spyder Concept

The German manufacturer will be introducing a new Spyder Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Though details behind the car have yet to be provided, the concept is still expected to be in attendance at the event where the company is hoping it gains a favorable reaction from the attending crowd. As far as a production version of the car is concerned, we’re not holding our breaths on it coming anytime soon. The Spyder Concept is what it is and Wiesmann->ke1344 is using the event to see how much interest and traction it generates from the audience.
