Not much gets our blood racing faster than a good dyno test, especially one featuring a new model. This one happens to be with the brand-new 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

Our friends at dragtimes.com report that Champion Motorsports was given keys to the 911 Turbo S for use in developing its new lineup of go-fast bits for the 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six. Before Champion could get to work, it borrowed the dynamometer over at HP Logic to get the coupe’s baseline numbers.

Turning all four wheels through the impressive seven-speed PDK transmission, the new 911 laid down a healthy 486 horsepower and 456 pound-feet of torque. Those numbers are fairly close to the advertised output of 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, all things considered.

Now we must sit patiently for news to break on what new performance upgrades Champion rolls out for the new-generation 911 Turbo S. Keep in mind, the last 911->ke282 its engineers worked their magic on ran the quarter-mile in the high 10-second range. Stay tuned to TopSpeed for all the updates.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S

The 2014 model year brings with it a new 911 Turbo and Turbo S, which finally receive the same updates that the rest of the 911 lineup received back in 2012 and 2013. Nothing major has changed with the exterior appearance, which is a good thing, except the car’s width -- it’s grown 1.10 inches over the previous model and is now the widest 911 ever -- the larger headlights and slimmer LED taillights.

It’s still powered by a turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six. Porsche’s famous PDK transmission directs power to all for wheels for maximum grip. Starting price for a 911 Turbo is $149,250 but can quickly climb past the $180,000 mark with all the options selected.
