Like an M-80 shoved inside a watermelon, the new C7 Corvette Stingray is pretty damn effective. Straight out of the box, Chevy’s->ke199 mainstay performance platform can easily outrun sports cars->ke506 far above its price range. But that hasn’t stopped the power nuts in their search for even more from the Vette’s->ke1280 V-8 powerplant. Hennessey Performance->ke1863 is one such tuner, and is well known for making the fastest even faster. Its latest project is an HPE1000 package for the C7,->ke4579 and as you can see from the above-featured video,->ke278 the results seem to be coming along nicely.

Hennessey already provides customers with two levels of upgrades for the C7: the HPE650 and HPE700. Included in these packages is a 2.3-liter supercharger system, custom tuning, exterior carbon-fiber aero enhancements and incredibly, a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. It’s an enticing offer for anyone looking to update their ‘Merican speed sled with something custom, unique, and 100 percent badass.

So then, how’s that HPE1000 kit looking? R&D seems to be progressing, with 847 horsepower and 720 pound-feet of torque registered at the rear wheels on this run (not to mention some beautiful internal combustion noise from that signature exhaust). 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

The latest-generation Corvette takes the big hunk of cheddar that was the car of yesteryear and adds a slew of new technology, making quite simply one of the best performance vehicles to bear a bow tie. The exterior is bold and brash, with aggressive lines and carbon fiber set at hard angles, the suspension is technically advanced and the chassis is made of composites. Under that extended hood is a jumbo-sized heaping of old-school-cool in the form of a 6.2-liter LT1 powerplant, updated for the modern age with EcoTec3 technology. In stock form, it’ll lay down 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
