Hands down, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe is one of the best-looking cars on the market, but it also marks an important evolution for Mercedes-Benz->ke187 as a luxury brand. Just as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gives Mercedes the ability to play on the highest rung of the luxury ladder alongside Bentley->ke15 and Rolls-Royce,->ke74 the S-Class Coupe lineup gives the brand an impressive grand touring coupe.->ke141 In the spirit of going big or going home, the gem of the new S-Class Coupe lineup is the V-12-powered S65 AMG Coupe.

Looking to see if the $231,000 S65 drives as good as it looks Motor Trend recently got ahold of the 4,839-pound coupe to put it through its paces on Mullholland Drive. Even with the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 spewing out 621 horsepower and 738 pound feet of torque, host Jonny Lieberman calls the car relaxing while driving famously curvaceous and challenging stretch of road. Official numbers show that this big coupe is indeed quick with a 0-60 time of four seconds and a top speed of 186 mph, but this car is all about style.

After talking about the stunning exterior design, Lieberman hops inside to check out the S65’s cabin. The S-Class Coupe gets a slightly different look than its sedan counterpart, but it delivers the same level of detail, including the “comet tail” wood trim.

Seeing the S65 AMG Coupe in action is great, but the best part of the whole video is when the ignition button is pressed and the starter whirs before the engine roars to life. This car is the perfect blend of performance and extravagance, and it seems to be worth every penny.
