Nissan GT-R started destroying supercars twice its cost in 2008 and since then it has received minor updates each and every year since. The only major update, however, came in 2011 by way of a power bump from 478 to 520 horsepower. Now, new reports from “insiders” suggest that a second major update is planned for the 2015 model year.

The model will received a pretty significant facelift, but the most important updates will be made to the driveline in an attempt to lower the car's 0-to-60 mph sprint time down from the current 2.8 seconds. For this, the current six-speed dual-clutch gearbox will be replaced by a new one featuring an extra gear. As a result, the insider reports that the sprint time will be improved by at least 0.1 seconds.

Along with the new transmission, the 2015 GT-R->ke1592 will also get improved brakes, new tires and, of course, a new record time around Nürburgring -- Kazutoshi Mizuno hopes to take it down to 7 minutes 15 seconds.

Beat that Porsche!
