The 2017 Mercedes-Benz G65 is so fast that the company has recalled all the 20 copies sold in the U.S. to electronically limit it. Shocking? Well, it’s too fast when going backward. The German SUV is so powerful that the speed limitation of the reverse gear might fail, and allow the car to speed away in the excess of 16 mph. If any abrupt changes are made while steering, “the vehicle could become unstable which could lead to a vehicle rollover, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle’s occupants.”

The Remedy

The fix seems to be an easy one. Mercedes will update the ECU software and will notify owners of affected vehicles. The owners of the 20 examples, produced between September 6 and October 10, 2016, will be informed about the service campaign this month. It will take less than an hour to fix this issue.

About The Car

The top-trim of the 2017 G65 came with a monstrous 6.0-liter, V-12 that produced 621 horses and 731 pound-feet of torque. Power was sent to all the wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It should be noted that the top speed of the G65 is electronically limited at 143 mph. Any chances this might fail too? Being a limited run SUV, the vehicle was available from selected Mercedes dealers in Southern California, Texas, Southern Florida, New York's Tri-State Area, and Atlanta.
