Hyundai now sells its premium rear-wheel-drive sedans under the Genesis badge, but this is a recent development since these vehicles used to be a part of the Hyundai lineup until around 2016 when the switch was made. So, the Hyundai Equus flagship became the Genesis G90, but it’s not a completely new car, rather an update to the older model with a new name.

Used Hyundai Equus vs. Old-School Rolls-Royce Phantom

Since the Equus has a Hyundai badge and it initially cost over $70,000, you can imagine the kind of depreciation it goes through. That’s good news for those looking for a second-hand luxury bargain that’s still a new and modern car - plus it’s one few people recognize, especially since, despite being a Hyundai, you won’t see it written anywhere obvious on the outside.

Some have said that the Equus is a great bank robbery getaway car, since witnesses are going to argue among themselves as to what vehicle the robbers took off in - was it a Mercedes? Was it a Lexus or an Infiniti? Plus if you get one with the 5.0-liter V-8, then it can also lift up its skirt and get a move on like you really wouldn’t expect it to.

It’s a great car, and if you can get a newish one for $15,000, which is how much this car featured on Hoovies Garage costs. Remember, this car is designed to compete with the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-Series, or the Lexus LS, and it does so quietly, without shouting about any of its qualities.
