The market has been moving towards big SUVs and all kinds of crossovers in the past few years, but there are still people who favor a good old station wagon like this guy who decided a snowmobile will fit in the back of his BMW 3 Series Wagon and, incredibly, it did. Sort of...

Just when we all thought that sedans and station wagons were on the chopping block.... Thanks to an ever decreasing interest in cars and the momentum gained by trucks and all kinds of crossovers in the past few years, we come across videos like this that show just how much stuff you can haul in the back of an ordinary station wagon.

When's the last time you saw a snowmobile crammed in the back of a BMW?

It may be true that the best days of the station wagon are behind us, but many people still rely on these cars to haul many people or many goods. Yes, many European manufacturers don't ship their long-roofed models to the U.S., but they still have a niche of their own on the European market and elsewhere in the world.

This Canadian BMW 3 Series E91 Wagon owner you see in these images was spotted in a McDonald’s parking lot in Dolbeau-Mistassini on Lac St-Jean in Québec by a woman and her friend. The two shared images of the red 3 Series with its rear hatch opened to allow the nose of a snowmobile to poke out from the tight confines of the BMW's cabin. After all, the 3 Series is BMW's entry-level wagon and, as such, the smallest in the German automaker's range. The E91 version has a wheelbase of just 108.6 inches and a total length of 177.9 inches. With the seats folded, it has a maximum cargo capacity of 48.9 cubic feet.

With the average snowmobile measuring anywhere between 114 inches and 135 inches, although there are much bigger models out there, you can imagine how hard of a job it was to stuff the dark-colored one we see in the pictures in the back of the Bimmer. But, as they say, if there's a will, there's a way, and this Canadian owner showed us he found the way.

These antics make us sad to see that BMW won't bring the G20 3 Series Station Wagon Stateside. However, you can still pick up a 2019 model year 3 Series Wagon right now. The 330i xDrive comes with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and, as pointed out by the x in the model's name, the all-wheel drive system. You can have it with the "Track Handling Package" although that will spike up the base price of $45,995 quite a bit. No inline-six is available in the U.S. for the F31 though.
