When you search the name “Addison Lee” on Google, it’s going to lead you to a London-based private taxi cab company. It’s an interesting and controversial company, but that’s not the Addison Lee that I’m talking about. Instead, I’m referring to a mild-mannered American who grew up to love Ford Mustangs->ke428 thanks to the help and influence of his father and race car driver, Don Lee.

The younger Lee and his custom-built 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback are the subjects of the latest Petrolicious episode. Lee’s fascination for the Mustang started an at an early age and to this day, his affection for his Mustang Fastback is evident. For him, the car represents more than what it’s capable of – it has a 430-horsepower 347-cubic inch stroked V-8 engine – but more importantly, the stories behind the car that he treats as a family member.

In a lot of ways, that’s what the Mustang Fastback represents to Lee. As fast and as powerful as it is, his Mustang’s real value comes from the time together he and his father spent in building it. That kind of thing may not mean much to other people, but for Addison Lee and his dad Don, those memories are the real treasures of their relationship.

This episode is a fascinating look at the kind of bond a father and a son can have when they have a shared love for cars. It’s beautiful to watch and if I do say so myself, it’s also very inspiring.
