GM is seriosly considering building a V6 version of its Kappa sports car (Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky). The new model will get an all-new body, a Chevy badge and one of the most iconic names in the GM sports-car pantheon - Sting Ray. It will be positioned as a muscular, entry-level Chevy sports car priced under the current Corvette range, but above the higher-end Pontiac and Saturn models.

Insiders report V6 powered Kappa mules wearing Pontiac Solstice sheetmetal are allready running arround GM test facilities. The V6 will have a maximum output of 240 hp, a numer that equals the expected horsepower under the hoods of the coming 2.2 liter turbo 2007 Solstice and Skyy, but with much better low-end torque.

The car will feature a 6-speed automatic gearbox and will go on sale probably in 2008 at a price tag arround $30000. The car is expected to debut at 2007 Detroit Motor Show.
