For a generation now, Aston Martin->ke13 has been largely defined by one car: the DB9.->ke210 With all due respect to the likes of the Vantage->ke4410 and the Virage,->ke351 the DB9 is still the iconic Aston, both in lineage and modern-day design. So, as the DB9 prepares to make its final curtain call, it’s last iteration, the DB9 GT, hopes to ride off with that legacy with a bang.

The attention-to-detail that came with the development of the DB9 GT reflects Aston Martin’s peerless dedication to making it stand out from other DB9s. That’s far easier said than done considering how well-built the DB9 is, but as Brian Makse points out in his drive review of the DB9 GT, there’s an extra level of bespoke importance that was placed in the creation of the special edition DB9. For instance, the paint treatment is unique to the car, highlighted by silver, black, and grey flakes that’s rarely seen in an Aston Martin, or any other car for that matter. Then there’s the interior, which really speaks for itself.

The DB9 GT is also the most powerful DB9 ever, thanks in part to Aston uprating the car’s 6.0-liter V-12 engine to 540 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. Everything about the DB9 GT is special, right down to its handling capabilities. Aston Martins have never been known for being the most fun cars to drive, but the DB9 somehow manages to blend everything together - the luxury, the performance, the looks, the handling - into one pot and create a really thrilling driving experience.
