That’s right.  A pedal car.

No, not a kid’s toy.

A replica of the legendary Auto Union Type C grand prix car of the 1936-37, a car designed by Ferdinand Porsche and driven by Bernd Rosemeyer to the championship in its first year.

The original developed 520 hp.

The newest version makes do with much less.

But it’s crafted to be true to the original in spirit, but just half the size.  There are over 900 moving parts, a hydraulic brake, and a seven speed transmission.  An aluminum space frame is covered by aluminum panels and the leather is used on the seats and steering wheel.
The prototype was introduced by Audi at the Paris Motor Show in 2006.  The production model is limited to a run of only 999, available through the Audi importer for each country in which Audi vehicles are sold.

Audi did not disclose the price, but the famous words of J. P. Morgan probably apply: “If you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.”
