In case you missed our in-depth coverage of the Dodge Demon debut last month, here are the highlights: highest horsepower production V-8 ever, first production car capable of doing wheelies, fastest production car in the quarter mile (9.65 seconds at 140 mph), fastest production car 0-to-60 mph time (2.3 seconds), and highest g-force acceleration for a production car (1.8 g). Not too shabby, eh? If that list of achievements sounds like the sorta thing you want in your garage, now’s your chance, as Dodge has officially announced an MSRP for the Demon. Pricing starts at $84,995, which includes a $1,700 gas guzzler tax, but excludes a $1,095 destination charge. Compare that to the “standard” Hellcat’s MSRP of $64,195, and you’re looking at an extra $20,000 to get your hands on a Demon.

“Eighty-five thousand dollars is not just a number in a business case to Dodge,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars at Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA North America. “We know it’s a lot of money and a significant up-charge over a Challenger Hellcat. We worked very hard to build as much value into the Challenger SRT Demon as possible – features, performance and exclusivity that simply can’t be duplicated with a goal of maintaining, and possibly even growing, as much future value as possible.” Fair enough. But beyond the insane power and impressive performance, what do you get for the money? Read on for the details.

Standard Features

Eighty-five grand ain’t chump change, that’s for sure, but the Demon makes a compelling case, especially if you’re an enthusiast. Standard features include a thumping supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood, producing 808 horses and 717 pound-feet of torque at the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. There’s also standard drag racing gear like a transbrake, line lock, Brembo brakes, 3.09 rear axle, adaptive suspension, drag radial cheater slicks, and the largest functional hood scoop ever added to a production car. Finally, if you get tired of hearing that V-8 rumble, there’s a two-speaker stereo system as well.

The Options And Extras

Personalization is important on enthusiast models, and the Demon doesn’t fall short in this category. Kicking it off is a list of $1 extras, which includes:

A personalized Demon Crate that tosses in all the equipment you need to get the full 840 horses and 770 pound-feet of torque from the V-8, such as a powertrain control module for high-octane race fuel calibration, and a conical air filter. The crate also adds skinny front wheels, a passenger mirror block-off plate, and a full set of track tools (hydraulic hack, cordless impact wrench, tire pressure gauge, etc.)

Front passenger seat (the Demon is a single-seater without this option)

Rear seat (leather or cloth upholstery)

Trunk carpet kit

Pricier options include the Leather Front Seat Group, which adds hide upholstery, heating and ventilation, and a heated steering wheel for $1,595. Or there’s the Comfort Audio Group, which adds an 18-speaker Harman Kardon Audio system with two subs and 900-watt amp, new floor mats, and new pedals, all for $995. Finally, there’s the Black Satin Hood finish for $1,995, and a sunroof for a whopping $4,995.

I Want One! When Can I Get A Demon Of My Own?

The Demon will have limited production with just a single model-year. Only 3,000 units are slated for the U.S. market, while 300 units are headed to Canada. Production ramps up later this summer in Brampton, Ontario, with deliveries scheduled for the fall.
