Back-to-back Baja 1000 winner, “Ballistic” Bj Baldwin is no stranger to performing in front of crowds. His wins in 2012 and 2013 in Baja brought the already well-known driver a heap of notoriety in the off-road world. Well Baldwin apparently wanted to show off his skills – along with his fully prepped race truck->ke242 – to the classy folks at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Baldwin is seen in the video->ke278 above taking corners sideways and demonstrating the insane amount of suspension travel possessed by his fully custom Chevrolet->ke199 truck. That suspension travel makes for an interesting watch, as the truck rises, dives, and rolls with each input of the throttle, brake, and steering. Paved road courses are certainly not this high-speed off-road truck’s forte.

Helping Baldwin get around the course is a generous amount of throttle. The truck’s front tires are tall and meaty, and very prone to understeer. Oversteer, however, is better managed and gives a heck of a better show. The naturally aspirated and fuel injected Chevy V-8 displaces 485 cubic inches and makes upwards of 800 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque, so getting sideways is easy.

This isn’t the first time Mr. Ballistic has shown off his skill outside of a race. He starred in his own two-part video series called Recoil, in which the racer terrorizes the streets of Ensenada, Mexico with his Baja race truck. Be sure to check out the Recoil series Recoil.
