Everyone expects BMW->ke178 to offer a new supercar sometime in the near future and previous rumors suggested that this new supercar will resurrect the company's famous M1 name->ke2536. New rumors, however, suggest that the car will be named the "M8" and that it will be unveiled just in time to celebrate BMW's centenary in 2016.

The M8 will be one of the three supercars set to arrive from the German market in the coming years. This list includes the successor to the Mercedes SLS AMG->ke2504 and the second generation Audi R8->ke1440. Rumors are pointing to the M8 being built on the same carbon-fiber and aluminum chassis as the upcoming BMW i8 in an effort to spread the manufacturing costs across both models. Under the hood will be a V-8 engine that churns up concrete with about 600 horsepower.

Not only will using the BMW i8 platform reduce manufacturing costs, but it will also make the Bimmer supercar much lighter than originally expected.

We will have more details for you in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned!
