A few days ago we reported that BMW might be unleashing another sportscar to their lineup by the name of the Z Spyder Stradale. Today, it's time to give way to another rumor. It seems that the German manufacturer has plans for two new concepts: a Compactive Sport Tourer (a flexible Sports Concept for four or five passengers) and the Advanced Sport Tourer (a model for four, five or seven passengers).

So, what is really hiding under these fancy names? BMW's attempt to make compact and larger MPVs more attractive and innovative that's what. The Compactive Sport Tourer is based on the 1-Series and is a coupe orientated typical compact hatchback while the Advanced Sport Tourer is based on the 3-Series and is a longer wheelbase coupe with a wagon orientation.

BMW->ke178 has been looking into the MPV market roughly since 2004 when they designed the BMW F3 slated for production in 2010. In 2006, BMW decided that they wanted the MPV market to grow by about 45% by 2015. Obviously, they did not end up producing the F3....or did they? These two new models could be newly named F3s and BMW's attempt to fuel the development of the MPV market.

Stay tuned for more details.
