Byton will be participating at the Consumers Electronic Show next week and is showcasing what it calls the “world’s most intuitive automotive interface.” Byton has not revealed any details other than a teaser image that appears to show the production interior of the M-Byte. The image shows one large screen instead of multiple instrument clusters and displays, and a tablet mounted on the steering wheel. This will surely raise the tech-heads’ heartbeats.
What's With That Weird Tablet on the Steering Wheel?
The steering wheel features an integrated screen that Byton calls a “Driver Tablet.” The tablet allows access to features like the radio, settings, audio, etc. Although it is difficult to decipher other details from the picture, we can make out that the dashboard is heavily inspired by the M-Byte concept. This one, however, has a curvier dash and a wider display. For your reference, the screen on the concept measured 49 x 9.8 inch (124 x 24 cm).

The steering mounted tablet will definitely have polarising opinions. But where did Byton even get this crazy, high-risk idea? And, how do the airbags open up? I’m guessing the automaker was inspired by 2 Fast 2 Furious’ ‘Act a Fool’ song; a part of which reads, “TV in the middle of my steering wheel.” There are other ridiculous lines in the song that we hope the company doesn’t take too seriously.
Further details about the infotainment system will be released on the 6th of January. Byton has revealed that the M-Byte will go into production in China later this year. It will reach the U.S. shores sometime in 2020 with a tag price of $45,000 for the entry-level model.
