We’ve been chomping at the bit to get any and all details we can on the upcoming mid-engine Corvette C8 that's slated to drop early next year, and now, we’re getting another piece of the puzzle as the C8’s key fob just leaked onto the web. Even more important that the leak is the fact that it has an all-new logo.

You Turn Me On, Baby

This latest morsel of info comes to us via a recent FCC filing application from Huf Huelsbeck & Fuerst, a German company that produces vehicle security systems. The pictures show what appears to be a GM key fob featuring the Corvette logo with the classic V-shaped flags, while the circuit board itself is also branded with the GM logo as well.

We could see the C8 as early as next month at the Detroit Auto Show, or possibly in April at the New York Auto Show.

What’s more, the fob carries a number of regulatory inscriptions required for distribution in worldwide markets, which suggests the C8 will be a global model with right-hand drive variants.

The buttons on the fob appear to offer control over the door locking/unlocking mechanism, trunk opening mechanism, front trunk opening mechanism, the alarm, and the convertible top opening mechanism, as well as a button in the center presumably used for remotely starting the vehicle.

Interestingly, the ‘Vette fob is the same shape as another key fob leaked last month, which was believed to belong to an as-of-yet unidentified Cadillac model, thus leading some to speculate that General Motors has yet another mid-engine sports car in the pipeline.

As for details on the new ‘Vette, it’s all rumor and conjecture for now, but it’s possible we’ll see the new mid-engine hero hit the scene with a new V-8 dubbed the “Blackwing,” with a double-dose of turbocharging and 4.2 liters of displacement to make itself heard. Output should easily eclipse the 500 horsepower mark. Seven-hundred ponies is another possibility, and some are even suggesting GM could take the plunge into the hybrid hypercar segment with a 1,000-horsepower electrified monster!
