The Chevy Silverado has been a hot topic lately. The 2019 Silverado 1500 was unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Now, it’s the 2020 Silverado HD’s turn in the spotlight. It’s not scheduled to make its debut until the fall of this year, but Chevrolet is getting a head-start on the teasing game with the first official image of the heavy-duty pickup.

Sometimes, you just have to let a picture speak for itself. That’s the case with this teaser image for the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD. It doesn’t show the pickup in all its monstrous glory, but it does give us an idea on what we’re in store for when it makes its official debut in the second half of the year.

Given our predisposition to analyze every square inch of teaser pictures like this one, we picked up a few details that will be featured on the Silverado HD. The first thing we noticed is the absence of the bowtie badge, which we see on just about every Chevy model, including the Silverado 1500 that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show a few months ago. Instead, the Silverado HD has “Chevrolet” spelled out across the grille, similar to the way Ford Is displayed on the grille of the [F-150

Raptor.->art159843]” The look is meant to emphasize the Silverado HD’s imposing qualities, which we should learn more about when the heavy-duty pickup shows itself in all its glory.

Although it’s applied differently, the split headlight treatment that we saw on the Silverado 1500 could also be a feature on the HD model. Angular LED lights sit on top of the full-sized grille bar while traditional headlights occupy the space below the bar. The pickup’s front grille is also different from the one on the Silverado 1500 while the presence of a massive hood scoop suggests that it’s a needed element to help the engine receive good helpings of air to cool it down. Chevy didn’t say what engine options will be available, but you can expect the Duramax V-8 to be on the table.

Beyond these pieces of information, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado is still shrouded in mystery. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait too long to find out what the next-generation model has to offer. One thing we do know is that the next-generation Silverado HD will feature “increased durability and validation standards, and the bolder, larger proportions of the truck will be instantly apparent.”

At least that’s what Chevy says. We’ll take the automaker’s word for it, at least for now.
