The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is only two weeks away from showing its redesigned face to the world, and teasers of GM's->ke1024 next-generation pony car keep pouring in. Having already teased us with the car's engine sound and more compact body shape, Chevrolet->ke199 has just released a bunch of new details, as well as two teaser photos of the upcoming Camaro.

The first teaser is a photo of the Camaro's newly designed aluminum engine hood. It's much more aggressive than its predecessor's, sporting a blend of smoothly sculpted lines and sharp creases. It seems as if it's wrapped around the engine, which makes it similar to the 2015 Corvette Z06's. Is this cool or what?

The second teaser shows some of the Camaro's rear end, although both the bumper and the taillights are missing. Chevy says it released the photo as proof that the next-gen Camaro will retain the muscular rear fenders of the current model, while receiving greater detailing around back. Unfortunately, this teaser doesn't reveal much besides a nicely sculpted trunk lid and reshaped taillight housings.

“The Camaro went to the gym and came out with a lithe, more athletic physique for the sixth generation,” said Ed Welburn, vice president of GM Global Design. “It’s a more expressive evolution of the Camaro’s iconic character – and one that complements its leaner size and sharper reflexes.”

We'll find out whether that's true or not on May 16th, when the 2016 Camaro breaks cover at a special event at Detroit's Belle Isle Park.

Why it matters

These teasers don't reveal a lot more than we already knew, but it's part of the game automakers like to play before an important car is unveiled. What matters here is that we're just two weeks away from seeing the next-generation Camaro->ke248 in the flesh.
