Chevron Racing Cars has been building proper race cars since the 1960s with lightweight and well engineered race winning machines. Seeing the need for a more practical and affordable track day machine Chevron is looking to make a comeback with the GR8 and of course, an all new one make series that is set to start running in April of 2010. According to the manufacturer, the Chevron GR8 is considered to be the successor of the classic 1968 B8 that was built to beat Colin Chapman's Lotus Elan.

For 2010, CRG looks to impress with a mid mounted naturally aspirated 2.0 Liter Cosworth built four cylinder engine pumping out an impressive 255 HP. The whole package is slated to tip the scales at around 1200 pounds, giving the GR8 an excellent power to weight ratio adding to the gentleman racer's performance capabilities. Chevron Racing Cars spokesman Ed Burrows says that "The new GR8 is intended as a credit-crunch racer. It will have the performance of a Ferrari or Porsche track car, but with only a fraction of the running costs" and with preparations for a racing series starting next year, owners will not only have a reason to track their cars, but they will also have a level playing field to do it in.
