Normally, watching two people discuss cars in a static environment can be a bit boring, but not when those people are Chris Harris interviewing McLaren's->ke284 chief test driver and former racing driver Chris Goodwin. The subject at hand is obviously the new 570S, McLaren's latest weapon against established carmakers like Porsche->ke1 and Ferrari.->ke252 Filled with insider information, the video above goes to great lengths at explaining the new McLaren model, from its raison d'être to the technical bits that comprise the car's package.

As most of you know, McLaren now has a three-tier product lineup, enthusiastically called Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series. Unveiled at the 2015 New York Auto Show,->ke226 the new 570S is part of the Sports Series and it will soon be accompanied by the lower-spec 540C. The Ultimate only consists of the P1 and P1 GTR, while the Super Series comprises the 675 LT, 650S and 650 Spider. Getting back to the 570S, which like the others is based around a carbon-fiber tub and a twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter , V-8 engine, it seems that the new model will be the best of the bunch at combining daily-driving activities and circuit-carving.

Even though it features a more conventional suspension, smaller turbochargers and less power than its siblings, the 570S is not something to be played with, as Chris Goodwin eloquently explains in the Chris Harris interview. It even overlaps the 650S from some perspectives, so don't think of it as a baby McLaren, but one that simply occupies a more attainable niche.->ke506 Chris Harris can't wait to drive one, and I can't really blame him.
