The LaFerrari is a massively impressive automobile. This thing is supreme hypercar royalty, boasting the absolute bleeding edge in go-fast technology. The Prancing Horse pulled no punches when it went about creating this one, and yet, Maranello felt there was still something more left on the table. Strip away any and all conciliations to road-going civility, add even more power, increase the downforce, and lighten the curb weight, and what you’re left with is this – the LaFerrari FXX K. Offered as the latest product in Ferrari’s XX customer racing program, of which the FXX and 599XX are also a part, the LaFerrari FXX K is about as brutal as they come when talking about a product from Maranello that doesn’t compete in Formula 1. And that makes it a fantastic fit for Internet superstar and new Top Gear co-host Chris Harris, who recently got a chance to pilot the mad machine at Daytona.

You might remember Harris’ stint in the LaFerrari FXX K from the first episode of the 24th season of the popular British motoring show, but luckily, this 7-minute video includes additional unaired footage of the experience for your viewing enjoyment. In addition, there’s plenty of footage of the red speed-maker tearing it up on track, complete with the howl of the Italian V-12 and Harris’ excited commentary.

The Full Story

Watching Harris rocket around the corners behind the wheel of the LaFerrari FXX K, you get a real sense for the simply outrageous speed potential this thing brings with it. Over 1,000 horsepower is on tap thanks to a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V-12, which is boosted thanks to an F1-style hybrid KERS system and electric motor. All that go hits the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, while active aerodynamics push it into the pavement. Magnetorheological suspension and an electronic differential keep the party going, and motorsport-spec traction control keeps it in line.

This thing is pure ground-bound spaceship, and it kinda makes you wonder how Ferrari will one-up themselves next…
