Porsche will launch next year in March (probably at the Geneva Motor Show), the Diesel version of the Cayenne luxury SUV. The company expects to sell around 15.000 units a year.

Under the hood Porsche will place a diesel engine borrowed from Audi with an output of 240 HP. Price will be around 55.000 euro.

Initially Porsche intended to launch the Diesel Cayenne in January 2009, in the same time with the facelift Boxster, but they decided to delay it so the debut of the new Boxster not to be underestimated.

The decision of building a diesel version of the luxury Cayenne came as a result of the big fuel consumption and the CO2 emission of the gas version.

Cayenne is the biggest competitor of the Audi Q7 SUV.
