While 2014 saw the introduction of a handful of American-built performance cars from Detroit's Big Three, it was GM->ke1024 and Chrysler->ke21 who made the most headlines with their supercharged V-8s. I'm obviously talking about the bonkers 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the insanely powerful 2015 Dodge Challenger and 2015 Charger Hellcats.

Powered by a supercharged V-8 that cranks out 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, and a platform developed alongside the C7.R race car's, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is America's new halo car, which is why we at TopSpeed named it as the 2014 Performance Car of the Year. The Challenger Hellcat, on the other hand, lacks the track-focused technology of the Z06, but it makes up in the horsepower department with 707 ponies at its disposal. The Hellcat also made our 2014 Performance Car of the Year short list, finishing in third place.

Overall, the Corvette Z06 is the better car in our opinion, and thanks to its underpinning it will smash the Challenger Hellcat on any race track any day of the week. But which one of these monsters is quicker in a straight line? Is the Z06 light enough to cancel the Hellcat's 57 additional horses or will the supercharged HEMI blow the LT4 to smithereens? The folks over at Stance Autoworks set out to find out just that, and the result is in the video above. Make sure you have a look at one of the five races caught on camera and share your thoughts in the comments section below.
