Now that Ram->ke220 has gone its own separate way, common knowledge suggests that since Dodge's logo is actually that of a ram, it should go to the newly-formed brand. In case you didn't know, Ram was originally under the Dodge->ke28 brand as a line of pick-up trucks, but has since left to form a new brand of its own.

So, with the logo officially going to Ram, Dodge->ke28 decided to re-brand itself with a unique new logo that pays testament to the brand's new sporty and youth-oriented direction and what better way to do it than to take the twin red slashes of Chrysler->ke21 Group's SRT performance brand.

According to Dodge CEO Ralph Giles who gave the green light to begin using the red slashes in the Dodge branding, "It signifies our sporty character. Most SRTs are Dodges."

For now the cars will make do without the slashes. The Dodge name will stand alone in a new script until the 2011 Dodge Charger rolls out of the production line. The Charger, along with a still-to-be-named crossover, will be the first vehicles to sport the new Dodge "Twin Slash" logo.

Before the new logo takes its place on the Dodges of the future, the new Dodge logo will be used for merchandising purposes. They will appear in a number of Dodge products including hats and t-shirts, as well as on new dealership signages, ad materials, and owner's manuals.
