McLaren has confirmed the development of the BC-03 supercar as a one-off creation that was commissioned by one of the company’s clients. The British automaker didn’t elaborate on the details about the mysterious machine, opting only to say that the “specifics of the project are confidential between MSO and its client.” Despite the lack of information, it is rumored that McLaren is using its own 1,150-horsepower Vision Gran Turismo Concept as the blueprint for the one-off exotic. If that’s the case, prepare to be blown away when McLaren reveals the BC-03, at least if the owner allows it.

On the one hand, it’s nice to know that the McLaren BC-03 actually exists. That puts to bed any speculation of the car’s existence. It’s a real thing. On the other hand, we’re not exactly throwing any parties after McLaren disclosed another important detail about the BC-03: it’s a one-off creation. Boo.

Nonetheless, the McLaren BC-03 isn’t the work of a random person’s creative imagination. It’s actually something that McLaren is developing in the midst of the build-up surrounding its other expected releases, including the heavily hyped Speedtail. Potency isn’t a question for the BC-03, either. According to Pistonheads, the BC-03 will have far more power at its disposal than the Senna.

If that ends up being the case, it’s possible that McLaren is lifting a lot more items from the Vision GT Concept than we expected. The latter came with a pair of pod motors that produced 1,150 horsepower. While it's unreasonable to expect the BC-03 to use pod motors, it could feature a powertrain that’s made up of a pair of front-axle electric motors and the McLaren 720S’s 4.0-liter, twin-turbo, V-8 engine. The output of those two combined could exceed 1,000 horsepower, enough for the BC-03 to justify its one-off billing.

It’s literally a one-off, which means that there’s only one model of its kind in the world. Whoever it is who signed off on building this one-off masterpiece will have an instant classic from McLaren in his hands. Hopefully, he gets to share it with the world once he takes delivery of it. Whenever that’s going to be.
