While they're fast and cool, Ferraris->ke252 are by no means bulletproof. For instance, the 458 Italia->ke3479 was known for its ability to catch fire due to an adhesive used in the wheel-arch assemblies. More recently, Maranello had to recall thousands of vehicles over airbag issues (most of them fitted with faulty Takata parts), a campaign that included the 458 Italia, F12berlinetta and the California T. Now, the latter is being called back to dealerships for a second time in 2015, this time around to fix a low pressure fuel line.

According to the Italian manufacturer, some 304 convertibles->ke144 built between September 8 and November 11, 2015 maybe have a low pressure fuel line that may not be connected properly to the fuel pump feed pipe. The said defect could result in a fuel leak in the engine compartment, which may increase the risk of a fire.

To fix the issue, Ferrari will replace the low pressure fuel line assembly free of charge. The recall began on December 14, 2015, and Ferrari claims it has already notified owners. If you own a California T->ke3183 and you're concerned about the fuel line, you can can contact Ferrari at 1-201-816-2600 for more information.

Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries or deaths related to the problem.

Why it matters

Vehicle recalls are quite the common thing nowadays. Whether it's a manufacturing error or a faulty component supplied by a third party company, most automakers and nameplates are usually affected by recalls. Although this call back was made over fire concerns and it's potentially dangerous to owners and passengers, Ferrari seems to have everything under control. Driving a luxury convertible at the dealership around this time of year is definitely inconvenient, but it's better to be safe than sorry, especially considering that most California Ts are likely to spend their winters in the garage. Ferrari doesn't need yet another model catching fire on public roads or in driveways, so it's actually good news that the recall came before any unfortunate incident occurred.
