Third time and it's India's turn. Two Ferrari Scagliettis are travelling across India, an odyssey aimed at creating awareness of Ferrari and to explore the marvels the country has in offer.

The two stallions started their trip from Mumbai on the 25th of last month and will return to the same city on May 8th after munching more than 11,000 kilometres through the 12-stage 72-day voyage. Ferrari is offering 50 journalists from across the globe to take turns behind the wheel of the V12-powered 612 Scaglietti.

In 2006, a similar journey was undertaken by two Ferrari 599 GTBs, which travelled 20,000 miles across the entire Panamerican continent along with 50 journalists and in 2005, two Ferrari 612 Scagliettis accompanied by 15 Chinese journalists, trotted 15,000 miles across China.

Eight vehicles will share the road with the Ferraris throughout the trip. Five Tata cars, two Fiats and one specially fitted-out Iveco truck will haul all the necessary spares and equipments. A photographer and video camera operator will capture all the exciting moments on tape, along with the technical assistance crew and logistics team, who will be present for the entire duration just in case if something goes wrong (Let's remember these are supercars and the Indian terrain is quite different compared to Italy's).

The cars, journalists and the support team will be assisted by Tata Group, Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Taj Hotels, Shell, Fiat India Pvt Ltd., Alcoa, Pirelli, Saima Avandero and OMR.

Tata Motors are in a joint-venture with Fiat in India for distributing and servicing their cars. Tata Consultancy Services provides software solutions for Ferrari's F1 cars since 2004. Shell’s presence in India goes back about 75 years as a pioneering oil distribution company by the name of Burmah Shell which was set up in 1928 and re-entered India in 1993 as Bharat Shell Limited. They have 2000 fuel retail stations across the country.

We at topspeed.com, wish the entire team a very happy and wonderful journey through the incredible land of the Taj Mahal.
