The holiday season is just around the corner, and we all know that, at least on New Year's Eve, fireworks are a big part of the celebrations. As much as we, humans, love watching the pyrotechnic shows that light up the skies on January 1st, our dogs hate all of the banging noises. To keep them away from all the disturbing explosions, Ford has developed a cool doghouse with state-of-the-art noise cancellation technology.

Ford calls it the 'Quiet Kennel,' and it's just a prototype at the moment. It looks like something that would fit in the sumptuous, yet minimalistic, penthouse of a movie star and it uses technology from Ford's vehicle lineup to keep dogs cool and quiet at all times.

Ford's doghouse is better looking than some of its recent vehicles

The European arm of Ford Motor Company ends the year by unveiling a prototype that's designed to make life easier not for people, but for their dogs. It's a triangular kennel big enough for one dog that employs the company's Active Noise Control Technology to keep your best friend calm and collected when the firework shows kick in on New Year's Eve. The technology involves speakers and microphones that work together to muffle exterior noise. The microphones pick up the frequencies of the auditory cacophony going on outside while the speakers emit sounds of opposite frequencies that mute out much of the noise.

“We wondered how the technologies we use in our cars could help people in other situations. Making sure dogs and their owners could enjoy a stress-free New Year’s Eve seemed like the perfect application for our Active Noise Control system,” said Lyn West, Ford of Europe’s brand content manager, in a statement

The kennel also features an automatic glass door that works with help from a sensor as well as a quiet ventilation system. The support legs of the doghouse are designed to absorb vibrations so that the dog doesn't feel like he's sitting inside a working washing machine when things get crazy.

We don't know if Ford will ever decide to put the kennel in production but, if it does, you can be sure it'll come at a mind-numbing price given all the tech involved. Even a simpler doghouse would be expensive with the sound-deadening materials used and the ventilation system, but there could be a market for such a high-end product.
