Recently Aston Martin has announced that it will revive the Lagonda luxury brand, presumably to compete with Rolls Royce and Maybach. The first model will be revealed as a concept in 2009 in order to celebrate Lagonda's 100th birthday and the production version will come in 2012.

The big surprise is that the first Lagonda model will likely be something like an SUV. The car may not fully be an SUV in the way that the BMW X5 and X6 incorporate elements from a performance sedan into the tall wagon. An Aston Martin official said that there may be some styling elements of the marque’s big old four-door reprised in the new vehicle. Considering the old Lagonda was about luxury sedans, the future Rapide->ke1082 seems likely to be badged as a Lagonda, but no, it will remain an Aston Martin.
