The most menacing sixth-gen Mustang yet, the Shelby GT500, is coming for the 2020 model year, and Ford just launched the first official photo of the car via Motor Trend. The teaser shows the top of the beefed-up coupe and some of its aggressive design and aerodynamic features.

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 At A Glance

The first thing that catches the eye is the big vent in the engine hood. Occupying almost half the length of the hood, the vent has six slats and sits on a big cowl that makes room for the supercharger strapped to the V-8 engine. The deck lid is covered by a big wing. Although it doesn't appear to sit high above the body, it's quite wide, and it's made from carbon-fiber.

We can also notice carbon-fiber winglets in the front bumper, slightly wider front fenders, and thick stripes that run the full length of the car.

As a brief reminder, the Shelby GT500 will get a supercharged V-8 engine that will generate more than 700 horsepower. As a result, the GT500 will outgun both the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. On the other hand, it won't be as powerful as the drag-prepped Dodge Challenger Demon.

The performance coupe could break cover by the end of the year or at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show in January. Stay tuned for details.
