Excited about the first production Toyota Supra going up for auction soon? Well, you need to make room for another cool sports car in your garage, as Ford just announced plans to auction off the very first Shelby GT500.

Set to break cover next month, the new Shelby GT500 will go under the hammer on January 18, at Barrett-Jackson's Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. As usual, all proceeds will go to charity, this time around to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation find a cure for the disease.

The coupe will be sold with no reserve and the winner will be able to choose specs and options. In 2015, the first Shelby GT350 raised a cool million dollars for the same foundation.

Powered by a V-8 engine that will deliver more than 700 horsepower, the new-generation GT500 will make its public debut at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show on January 14. The GT500 will become available in the United States and Canada next fall and will be built in limited numbers.
