There's not much more sacred to classic->ke503 American motoring than the Ford Mustang->ke428, with its origins dating back to 1964. It's been an icon of freedom and enjoyable pastime. The same can be said for the classic arcade game of pinball.

With its heyday in the 1970s, the pinball machine was a hugely-popular pastime for teens looking to get out of the house and spend time with friends. Perhaps more than a few were driving early-model Mustangs handed down from mom and dad.

Well the two are coming together in a special way for the 2014 Chicago Auto show. Ford and the legendary Stern Pinball have built three unique pinball machines to commemorate the pop-culture contributions the two companies have made. The Mustang-themed tables feature the Boss 302, Boss 351, and Boss 429 of 1969 to 1971 and 2012 to 2013.

Of the three games, one is signed by the game's designer and features the original '65 Mustang setting next to the all-new 2015 'Stang. All three styles are covered in Mustang badges and insignias for the full effect. The machines will be built for use in arcades and public areas all over the U.S. No word yet on when the games will start appearing in local arcades, however.

2015 Ford Mustang

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang is a huge step forward for the classic American pony car. The biggest news surrounding the two-door fastback is its adoption of an independent rear suspension setup.

An entire host of engines are available in the new Mustang: the carryover 3.7-liter, naturally aspirated V-6, an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost in-line four, and the top-dog, 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated V-8. Power is managed by either a six-speed manual from Getrag or a six-speed automatic.

The interior has been completely reworked, but the iconic styling still remains. A new suite of infotainment gadgetry and electronics helps push the 2015 Mustang into the future and makes it more competitive in its segment.

Pricing has not been announced as of this writing, but stay tuned to TopSpeed for any developing news.
