Back in March 2018, Ford confirmed that it will revive the iconic Bronco, as well as add a smaller, "baby" Bronco crossover to its lineup. Come November and the "baby" Bronco revealed itself earlier than planned in leaked images from a dealer meeting.

Bigger Bronco in the Shadows

The images discovered by off-road.com on a "publicly accessible part of a Ford website hosting pictures of the 2018 dealer meeting in Las Vegas" show the front, side profile, and a front quarter view of a small and boxy crossover. Off-road.com claims that this SUV is the Bronco, but look closer at the side profile view of the vehicle and you'll notice the outline of a larger, boxier SUV with a spare tire mounted on its tailgate.

That's the Bronco! What's more, the crossover shown in the photos looks a lot like Ford's teaser for the "baby" Bronco, sporting similar round headlamps and an identical profile. The rake of the windshield, the C-pillar, and the roof are also identical.

It Will Be Off-Road Capable

Needless to say, the "baby" Bronco (it will probably have a different name) looks unique compared to everything else Ford offers right now and it's obviously aimed at the Jeep Renegade as far as design goes. But it will have what it takes to tackle the Renegade in terms of off-road capability too. An image suggest it will be offered with an off-road themed package with bigger tires and wheels, while another one includes the slogan "Authentic off-road capability." It will be more than just a compact city hauler.

Details remain slim, but we do know that the "baby" Bronco will be based on the Ford Focus. The engine lineup should include a small-displacement engines, with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost with more than 200 horsepower at the top of the range. Should it be offered in Europe too, it will also get a couple of diesel mills.
