LEGO’s Speed Champions line of brick cars is getting a new member with the introduction of the LEGO version of Ford’s M-Sport Fiesta WRC rally car, the same racer that won the 2017 World Rally Championship behind the efforts of co-drivers, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia. Though not as big as the actual rally car, the LEGO version of the M-Sport Fiesta WRC is a great addition to LEGO’s Speed of Champions range. It joins a list of fellow championship race cars, including the Mercedes-AMG Formula One racer, the Ford GT racer, and the Ford GT40 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in 1966.

LEGO sure knows how to pick cars to add to its Speed Champions line. The Ford M-Sport Fiesta WRC rally car won two WRC titles and five stage victories in 2017. That kind of success made it an ideal choice to grace a line of pint-sized LEGO racers that have etched their name in the annals of motor racing legend. In true LEGO fashion, the details of Ford M-Sport Fiesta WRC rally car are incredible. The front and rear spoilers are there. The wheel arches are present. The set also includes a pair of interchangeable hoods, including one that has spotlights for night driving, and a choice of wheel trims. Even the graphics adorned on the real rally racer are present in the Speed Champions version, right down to the M-Sport windshield banner, the “2” car number, and all the logos of the team’s array of sponsors.

“With two World Rally Championship titles and five rally victories in 2017, it’s hard to think of a more worthy addition to the LEGO Speed Champions range than the M-Sport Ford Fiesta WRC car”, Mark Rushbrook, Ford global director of Motorsport, said in a statement. “The LEGO Speed Champions series is a fun way to celebrate the success of Ford cars in motorsport. We hope it will inspire future generations of car designers, engineers, and rally drivers.”

All in all, the Ford M-Sport Fiesta WRC LEGO Speed Champions toy racer comes with 203 pieces. When built, the car measures 5 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 2 inches high. It doesn’t come with an actual 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine like the real rally car, but we’re prepared to let that omission slide. The good news is that the Speed Champions version doesn’t cost as much. Together with another new addition to the Speed Champions line — the 184-piece 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback — the M-Sport Fiesta WRC rally car will be available to order at Lego’s online shop beginning on March 1, 2018, at a price of just €14.99. That’s around $18.50 based on current exchange rates.

We’re not going to try to convince you to buy one, but if you already have other Speed Champions models — maybe the Bugatti Chiron? Perhaps the Ferrari FXX K? — in your collection, there’s no reason you shouldn’t add the Ford M-Sport Fiesta WRC rally car.
