Thirty designers, sculptors and others from GM's Design Center, located at the Technical Center in Warren, Mich., donated personal time and resources to create one-of-a-kind "time pieces" that will be auctioned at the Coalition on Temporary Shelter's (COTS) April 22 ImaginAide event held at the Detroit Renaissance Center Marriott. The proceeds from this annual event benefit the homeless in the Detroit area.

"This is the eighth year that GM Design Center has participated in this community outreach event," says Mark Leavy, global director, Global Design Operations. "Several of our talented team members take pleasure in helping communities, touching lives, and making a difference."

The ImaginAide event will feature area designers and artists who have created some very exciting artwork using a clock face or a clock theme to signify that it is "Time to End Homelessness." This year's artwork from Design Center team members includes work in many materials, such as wood, metal, ceramic, polymer clay, digital art and many other combinations.

"I enjoy contributing to this program, and I love the variety of imaginative solutions all based upon a similar catalyst, this year being the timepiece," says Christos Roustemis, Camaro showcar interior design manager. "This is a special event that provides an opportunity for creative expression outside of the workplace and helps people in our community who have a need."

COTS supportive programs and services aim to break the cycle of homelessness by providing comprehensive support services for individuals and homeless families while helping residents develop the skills and confidence they need to be economically self-sufficient and independent.
