The Goodwood Festival of Speed is always one of the best events to go to when you’re in the mood to bask in the rich history of the automotive industry. Classic and modern cars alike are a common spectacle at the event. This year, the Festival of Speed is turning its sights to honoring a certain Italian automaker, who just happens to be celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. So, if any of you happen to be going, be on the lookout for 70 of the finest Ferraris in history, all of which will be on display to honor the Prancing Horse’s 70th birthday.

Competition cars. Single-seaters. Classics. Modern supercars. Pretty much every kind of car Ferrari has built in the last seven decades will make an appearance at Lord March’s estate over the weekend. On top of all the Ferraris that will be on display, about 25 more of the company’s racing cars will see action in the 1.16-mile Hill Climb, the highlight event of the Festival of Speed. Ferraris will also be well-represented at Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale. A 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 “Daytona” Berlinetta will be auctioned off over the weekend, as well as a 1986 Ferrari 328 GTB, a 1989 Ferrari Testarossa, and most prominent of them all, a 1988 Ferrari F40 owned by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. If there ever was a time and a place to proudly show your tifosi colors and celebrate Ferrari’s 70th anniversary, it’s going to be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Goodwood will be a good place to be a Ferrari fan

Ferrari’s 70th-anniversary celebration continues to roll on. The next stop, as it turns out, will be the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will be as good of an event to celebrate 70 years of history as any other event in the automotive calendar.

The charm of Goodwood as the place that bridges generation gaps of the auto industry makes it an ideal event for Ferrari to really showcase its long and rich history. Now, I don’t know exactly what models will be on display, but really, how many times will you see an iconic Ferrari like the 250 GTO sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with a Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta? Better yet, at how many events will you get to see 25 classic Ferrari race cars competing in the same event? That’s the kind of atmosphere that the Goodwood Festival of Speed provides, which really makes it one of the most unique auto events in the year.

So, if you’re a fan of Ferrari and the Goodwood Festival of Speed is within reach this weekend, I can’t think of any other place you should be than inside Lord March’s estate. It’s not often that Ferrari has this kind of celebration to honor its place in history, so better make an appointment because the Goodwood Festival of Speed just became a must-attend event.

Who knows, if you bring your checkbooks with you, there’s a chance that you might even end up taking home any one of the Ferraris that are going to be auctioned off by Bonhams. I heard Pink Floyd’s Ferrari F40 is going to be one of the showcase models to go under the hammer. Better save room for that one.
