It’s been established that the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS has some serious power coming out of its 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine. Chevrolet->ke199 even rates its output at 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque, providing Camaro SS->ke248 owners with enough ponies to play around with when they’re behind the wheel of the muscle car.->ke507

Recently, American tuner extraordinaire Hennessey Performance->ke1863 took delivery of a Camaro SS and as expected, the first thing it did was subject the high-powered muscle car to a dyno run. It’s probably no surprise that the Camaro SS did quite well on the dyno, posting an output of 431 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Take into account the drivetrain loss that happens in these types of tests, it’s safe to assume that the Camaro’s reported output of 455 ponies and 455 pound-feet of torque is right where it should be.

Granted, the video->ke278 only shows two separate test runs with the one posting inferior numbers of 428 horsepower and 416 pound-feet of torque. There are also a handful of factors to consider in dyno runs, including temperature, fuel type, and simulated wind direction are only a few of the more notable ones.

But by and large, it does appear that the Camaro SS has the right amount of power that justifies its billing as one of America’s finest performance cars. The fact that it costs just under $40,000 certainly adds to the plethora of reasons why the high-performance Camaro is such an awesome car.

And just so you know, Hennessey already has two separate programs for the Camaro SS. One is the HPE600, which adds 145 ponies to the muscle car. The other, and more potent, program is the HPE650. Yep, that adds an extra 195 horsepower to the standard output, bringing its total up to an impressive 650 horsepower.
