Unveiled earlier this year, the new BMW 8 Series was scheduled to lose its roof and become a Convertible at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. If you were excited to see it in topless form, the wait is pretty much over, as the drop-top grand tourer just broke cover via a set of leaked photos.

Not surprisingly, the 8 Series Convertible is identical to the coupe below the waist. That's probably because the windscreen seems to be a bit lower and at a narrower angle toward the cabin.

Much like the coupe, the Convertible will make its debut in M850i xDrive trim. This means it will be sold with the same 4.4-liter V-8 engine that BMW tuned specifically for this model. The twin-turbo mill cranks out 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque in the coupe, and these figures should remain unchanged for the drop-top. Expect it to hit 62 mph a tenth-second slower than the coupe, in about 3.8 seconds.

Stay tuned for official info about this car and make sure you check out our review to learn about everything we know so far.
