Mercedes-Benz plans to reveal the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA today at the CES in Las Vegas. However, I got my hands on a few fantastic photos before Mercedes-Benz officially revealed them, and I can tell you right away - the 2020 CLA looks the business. While all the 2020 Mercedes-Benz specs are still hidden somewhere in the Daimler hard drive intestines, I did find out that the new car is longer, wider, and lower. Plus, thanks to a few teasers, I can see that the inside of the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA is a far nicer place than ever before.

How Does The New 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA Look?

The first look at the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA reveals that Mercedes-Benz designers strive to create a car similar to the CLS. Smaller and neater, of course. But also considerably more upscale compared to the predecessor. This one won’t be the cheapest Benz here, mark my words.

The considerable change in size looks like this: the new CLA is 48mm (1.89in) longer, 53mm (2.08in) wider, and 2mm (0.07in) lower compared to its predecessor. A great deal of the added inches went into the creation of a far roomier cabin and a much-needed improvement of room for rear passengers.

Why Did Mercedes-Benz Choose To Show The 2020 CLA At CES In Las Vegas?

The answer to this question is on the dashboard. Although it uses nearly the same layout as in the A-class and the B-class, the MBUX infotainment system has learned a few more magic tricks, and we will know more about them after the new CLA debut today. First of all, I expect it to get that 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, but with a bit more grunt (up from 188 horsepower) and more torque. I also expect updated tech such as emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Interestingly enough, Jalopnik reports that the one to debut at the CES will be the CLA250 Edition 1. This means it will feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Different Versions Of The New 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

Apart from the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA Edition 1 (it will be loaded like there’s no tomorrow), I expect a version with an all-wheel-drive system and I expect Mercedes-AMG to announce the debut of the AMG CLA35 and the AMG CLA45. They will most certainly come into play.

So, in short, the new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA will be offered as a front wheel drive car or an all-wheel-drive car. It will also come with an automatic (possibly with a manual transmission as well - at least for Europe and Australia,) and high-end trims will carry the AMG plaque.
