Fundraising website Omaze and The Paul Walker Foundation have teamed up to create a contest that’s offering one lucky individual the opportunity to join the cast of Fast 6 on the set of their new movie in Atlanta.

The contest works like a raffle in the sense that interested are required to post donations by spending money to purchase on the number of entries they’d like before a name is drawn on Saturday, July 23. The amount of the donation equates to a specific number of entries, beginning with a $10 donation that comes with 100 entries. The donations can run up to $2,500, which not only gives a donor 25,000 entries in the raffle, but also a signed Fast & Furious Ford Escort model car. It’s worth pointing out the two similarly valued $2,500 donations are already sold out. Not surprisingly, all of the prizes attached to a specific donation amount are all inspired by the franchise. For example, a $250 donation comes with 2,500 entries and a Furious 7 T-shirt and a Fast 8 teaser poster. There’s also a $1,000 donation that comes with 10,000 entries and a signed Fast 8 teaser poster.

Whoever ends up winning the raffle will get the full VIP treatment, beginning with an all-expense paid trip to Atlanta, accommodations at a four-star hotel, and a trip to the set of the film where an inside look at the cars that are being used in film are on the schedule and more importantly, a meet and greet with Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood, and the rest of the movie’s cast.

Ultimately, the whole promotion is aimed at raising awareness for the Paul Walker Foundation, a charity founded by Meadow Walker after the death of his father and franchise cornerstone, Paul Walker.

So if you’re going to spend money to enter, not only are you putting yourself in a position to go behind-the-scenes on the filming of Fast 6, you’re also going to help The Paul Walker Foundation promote ocean and marine-related causes.

Why it matters

I personally don’t have $2,500 to spend on 25,000 entires for this promotion but I’m certainly not going to begrudge people who fork over that amount to put themselves in a better position to win the raffle. Make no mistake, the top prize is incredibly tempting and for somebody who counts himself as a religious follower of the Fast and Furious franchise, I almost had one of those impulse clicks that would’ve bought me those precious 25,000 entries. Fortunately, I reigned myself in at the last second out of sheer necessity, although I still put down a small donation of $10 to help the cause.

That’s the great thing about this promotion: it’s tied into an organization that’s near and dear to the entire Fast family. The Paul Walker Foundation was only founded in the wake of Paul Walker’s death, but in the short time that it’s been around, it has become a symbol of Walker’s well-documented history of philanthropic works. It’s run by his daughter, Meadow, and it’s powered by its objective of supporting youth programs that introduce the youth to marine sciences and wildlife. It also provides scholarships to aspiring students who are looking to make positive contributions of their own in protecting the the marine world and all of its inhabitants.

It’s a far cry from the high-octane world of Fast & Furious, but with the help of Omaze, people can do their part in helping the foundation achieve its goals while also setting themselves up for a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of the Fast family.

Those who are interested in joining the contest have until July 23, 2016 to make their donations.
